As far as my driving abilities I've been driving for about 35 years and out of that 35 years at least 20 years I've been driving on snow and ice and any and all weather conditions aside from snow and ice you want to be a safe driver??? Always and I emphasize the word always remember that speed can and will kill and this includes any and all weather conditions now I'm going to say this as I've said before become one with your vehicle know your vehicles response know what it will do know what it won't do and of course you have to be in control of your vehicle don't let your vehicle control you because if you let your vehicle control you it's going to do what it wants to do and that's the end of it you have to tell your vehicle what to do and if you don't know what I'm saying by that then you shouldn't be behind the wheel

Now the reason that I drive a manual transmission most of the time and anybody who drives a manual transmission can attest to this is because I feel safer in a manual transmission than I do in an automatic transmission there's things that you can do with a manual transmission that you cannot do with an automatic transmission now for those of you who don't know or for those of you who are new to this as I've said before I am from the Midwest yes I have taught people how to drive on snow and ice I have also talked to you about how to drive a manual transmission and I'll tell you this even on snow and ice I prefer a manual transmission over an automatic

While I'm thinking of the same thing happened with my truck at one time my truck was a stick my car at that time was an automatic listen up people if you leave your vehicle on and leave it running if it's a standard transmission put it in neutral and set the brake if it's an automatic transmission put it in park and set the break if need be do not leave your vehicle with the engine running not in gear and the brake not set put it in gear set the brake always again if it's a manual transmission put it in neutral and set the break if it's running if it's not running put it in gear and set the brake if you're driving a manual transmission and you are facing downhill parked but it in reverse and sent the brake if you are facing uphill parked put it in first or second and set the brake preferably first

When you leave a vehicle before you leave the vehicle turn it off put it in gear and set the brake come on people you should know this it doesn't matter what kind of a vehicle it is turn it off put it in gear and set the brake if it's an automatic put it in park and set the break if need be come on people it doesn't take a college degree or a rocket scientist to figure it out if you don't know that you shouldn't be behind the wheel you know there's only one time then my vehicle has ever slid back while it was in park while I had the brake on and that's because I was on ice on a hill and to be totally truthful about it I didn't even have the vehicle turned off I had just put it in park and set the break before it started flooding back I took my foot off the brake and took it out of park and parked it somewhere else the vehicle wasn't even off yet
