I was there working 'security' that day ( 02:45 ) at the Reno Air Races. Saw Thom in the hanger a while later, and his hand was bandaged, but he was otherwise okay. His plane was f#@ked-up though. It sat so low to the ( https://youtu.be/CTLQiBNMzaQ ) ground, that the other plane's wing just barely caught him. A very cool little plane though. If you do a image SEARCH for Precious Metal…..( his larger plane )…..I bet you'll also see photos of that tiny one. I believe this was his 2nd year bringing it out from his home base in Florida to Reno……but he won some European championship earlier that year.
