Wow! I remembered in mid 80 when I almost regularly visit chittodar dukan @ deckers lane with my colleague sushanta das and his elder brother! What a mouthful taste of foods within a tiny budget. Long live the shop.

After reading some rather interesting comments here, I would like to share my personal experience of eating in Kolkata restaurants. I have had a very bad experience of dining at an air-conditioned restaurant at Ballygunge, which is considered a posh locality. One of the chicken dishes was stale and smelly, and we were forced to just discard it. Our the contrary, I am a regular customer at Chittababu's eatery. I do not eat there, instead ask for parcel. I have never had any indigestion or food poisoning from their food. While the place itself may be shabby, they actually maintain some very hygienic standards. The raw materials, chicken, fish, mutton and eggs, as also other ingredients are always very fresh, and they use good quality cooking oil, unlike many reputed restaurants.

Oh My God. I Used to go here with my Granpa. I miss him and this place. I am currently in Sydney, Australia and how I miss my Kolkata street food. Love all the Kolkata street food videos. You will never get food like this anywhere in the world. There is a lot of flavour and love in the food from Kolkata. That's why it's callled the City of Joy.
