Exclusive (Emmy Award) video shot by Mike Theiss from ground zero of Hurricane Katrina’s historic 28 foot storm surge that ripped through Gulfport, Mississippi on August 29th, 2005. This video has a time stamp to give a complete and accurate timeline from the Holiday Inn beachfront hotel located directly on the beach in Gulfport. Also, included are shots from the Theiss-Device which is a camera housing designed by Mike to be placed in a place that would be too dangerous from any human to survive. This 13 minute video will give you a sense of just how bad Katrina was on the Gulf Coast without actually putting you in harms way !!!

To see the entire version of this video about 2 hours in duration please purchase the DVD “Battle at the Beachfront”. http://www.BattleAtTheBeachfront.com

We hope this documentation helps enforce a sense of storm awareness and a respect for the power of mother nature. When local officials ask you to evacuate just think of this video and ask yourself do you want to risk being put in a situation like this ?

  1. Or can you ever feel secure that He who is in heaven will not let loose against you a deadly stormwind, whereupon you would come to know how [true] My warning was?

  2. Astounding.
And Gulfport did not get the worst of it…Biloxi over to Waveland had even a higher surge. My estimate from building damage was between 35 and 40 feet.
    These guys had guts.

  5. I was driving I ten after….big boats laying up on tall trees way out of water, all windows in big motels out, degree all over, and a pine tree with a travel trailer hanging on it,looked like a marshmello on a stick…..no lights anywhere at nite.i was in 18 wheeler….you seen it for sure at its worst…
    hope you all were ok….

  6. Can you imagine how much raw sewage, dead animals, e.t.c. that was floating in that water. And people had to walk, swim, and run through it. God bless you all in misssissippi and l.a. that survived. I hope you all have moved to higher ground…

  7. Mother Nature keeps warning us to stop destroying her planet, but we just won't learn. Her lessons are going to keep coming and grow more intense. We only have ONE planet

  8. I'm only a kid…. i haven't lived through this, but i have lived through Sandy. That thing wasn't bad…. for me. I slightly remember it, if at all. Our local government made it illegal to have Halloween because of the storm. I went to my grandmother's house then, which was luckily not hit by the colossal storm. I thought that was horrible, because I already knew my neighborhood inside out! I didn't want to go to some distant unknown neighborhood. no that i didn't know my grandma's house, i just didn't know the NEIGHBORHOOD. we only lost power for 5 days. I was young. so it didn't effect me. my family lives on kind of a hill, so no surge hurt us. I thought that was bad. But seeing this— I realize i got the lighter side of Mother Nature in Sandy.
