1:05 New Hotel – To start the day, we moved to St. James Hotel (details in the eBook: http://migrationology.com/2weeksinbangkok/), which is located right in the Phrom Phong area of Bangkok. The hotel was pretty good, very spacious and just a short 5 minute walk from Phrom Phong BTS station and a number of famous Bangkok shopping malls.
2:17 Kuay Teow Rung Rueng (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวร้านรุ่งเรือง) – One of the most famous restaurants in the Phrom Phong area of Bangkok, just off Sukhumvit road, is Kuay Teow Rung Rueng (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวร้านรุ่งเรือง), and they mainly serve Thai tom yum noodles. I started off with a bowl of kuay teow tom yum sen lek nam pisayt (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวต้มยำเส้นเล็กน้ำพิเศษ), tom yum noodles and the bigger size. Another thing you have to order when you go to this restaurant is crispy fish skin.
6:41 The EM District – After lunch we took a little walk around Emporium and EmQuartier shopping malls which are right off Phrom Phong BTS station. They are some of the most well known luxury shopping malls in Bangkok.
8:28 Ceresia Coffee Roasters – While at the mall, I bumped into my friend Will, and we had a quick cup of delicious coffee at Ceresia Coffee Roasters.
10:25 Saeng Chai Pochana (ร้านแสงชัยโภชนา) – When it comes to Thai Chinese seafood and stir fried dishes and restaurant along Sukhumvit Road, Saeng Chai Pochana (ร้านแสงชัยโภชนา) is one of the best restaurants. They have an extensive menu of just about everything you can imagine and just about everything is delicious. My favorite dish of the evening was pla gao tod gratiem prik Thai (ปลาเก๋าทอดกระเทียม), a deep fried, and crazily crispy, brown marbled grouper with a mound of garlic and black pepper on top.
16:12 Talad Rot Fai Ratchada (ตลาดรถไฟ รัชดา) – After a delicious dinner, we then headed to Talad Rot Fai Ratchada (ตลาดรถไฟ รัชดา), also known in English as the Train Market, and we went to the Ratchada location. It’s only open on the weekends, and it’s a very busy market, especially popular for local youth in Bangkok as a hangout spot. Food there is alright, but not amazing.
Thank you for watching Day 10 of this Bangkok travel guide video series!
