SAIDA / SIDON, LEBANON – This was one of the best days and Lebanese food tours of my trip to Lebanon. The seafood for breakfast was delicious, but nothing compared to the outstanding hummus and ful – best I’ve ever had, and the king of falafel, in this ancient city! #streetfood #Lebanon #ArabicFood

Thank you to USAID – My visit to Lebanon was supported by the USAID Lebanon Enterprise Development Project.

Here are the street food and places we visited in this video:

Abou Al Abed Cafe – Seafood Restaurant – They are very cool, and you choose the seafood you want, and they will deep fry it all, and serve it with different sauces and dips. We ate seafood for breakfast, and it was perfect.

Foul Abou El-Ezz – Kamel and Ramil both said this is the best ful in Lebanon, and it was no doubt the best ful I’ve ever had in my life. The amount of spices and additions, as well as the bitter orange, made it superd. Additionally, his fatteh and hummus were insane.

Kahwet el Qzez – Old coffee shop – Probably the coolest old coffee shop in Lebanon, it’s a community social atmosphere, where people hang out, gather, talk, drink coffee, and play cards.

Rahat el Halkoun – Turkish Delight – We stopped for a quick taste of Turkish delight in Lebanon.

Dabane Palace Museum – Along with street food, we also enjoyed walking around the ancient souk market areas of Saida / Sidon. The Dabane Palace was impressive. Price – 5,000 LBP ($3.31)

Falafel Abou Rami – Finally to end this street food tour, we ate at this legendary falafel spot, the king of falafel. One of the best falafel sandwiches I’ve ever had. Total price – 16,000 LBP ($10.61)

It was another fantastic day in Lebanon, experiencing some of the best Arabian Lebanese food I’ve had.

  3. This place has really caught my eye ! I love the Island , can you stay on the Island anywhere ? I love the fact you are surrounded by the wicked looking Ocean. I love the sea , totally entrances me. The best part next to that is all that sea food , Oh Yeah !! Really beautiful place , definitely on my bucket list !

  4. Would love to see an Egypt Series. I know you have done one six or seven years ago but It would be amazing to watch a new adaptation.

  5. I used to be one of your biggest fan and supporter until you decided to visit a terrorist nation (Pakistan) for chump change and 5 mins of fame and risked millions of lives.
This is a good video though.

  6. Started looking at my options here in the blah blah US of A, here in the SF bay area for any restaurants that might have an awesome bowl of FUL…. no much luck. Yes it is served but it is not a main dish…Americans just want the meat. Anyhow, Mark. Perhaps you can build Migrationology.com to have listings of people, restaurants with similar or like dishes from your travel videos. I know this is a big undertaking, but you are the Head of the Show…if you can link your Remote Experiences to that which other regions of the world may offer…I think we have a new step in food integration. For example, let say Thai people that follow you videos would like a Mexican taco, Enchilada or salsa they can head to the nearest location on the Mark Wiens Global Menu! It will take a lifetime to build but once it is done, you sir will have all the on site location and video documentation to develop a new global menu of local interests. Something needs to happen, I am here in the US and still I can find some but now all your food experiences. Yes I have spent a pretty penny in my own kitchen collecting ingredients, substituting ingredients and giving it a good ol heave ho go! Love what you do, I how you read my post and take it to another level for internet, digital food experiences and knowledge along with your compassion to share. I really think you have the right people around you to build and distribute a whole new experience relationship to foods, palate and love. /hug.

  7. The media keeps showing the war torn areas of the middle east or the extremely affluent parts. Didn't know there is so much richness inbetween. Thanks !

  8. Mark is living the life that all of who follow him would want to live. I love every episode and anxiously wait for the next. As I watch your videos I feel like I’m there with you for that time. Best channel on YouTube.
