Flash Flood Caught on Camera! Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon

Spread The Viralist

We were caught in a flash flood in one of Utah’s most famous slot canyons. http://www.utahmototrails.com/2013/09/little-wild-horse-canyon-hike-flash.html We checked the weather the day prior and there was no chance of rain..we were out of cell phone/internet coverage. This is proof of how fast things can get ugly! We had hiked Little Wild Horse Canyon in the San Rafael Swell before always being cautious, the forecast had changed to %20 chance..this was a fairly light rain, hard to believe the results! We had hiked up further, this video is us running back to find the girls we left behind. We found them in an opening waiting out the storm. The lower slots are actually much narrower than these, luckily my wife knew to backtrack to this opening as soon as she saw the water coming. Not sure of the results had we not found them..always get to higher ground and wait it out, you won’t outrun it..fun as it was to pretend for a while:) Here’s a map of where we were, showing where we had to wait it out. http://www.utahmototrails.com/2013/09/little-wild-horse-canyon-hike-flash.html

  1. Lucky.. You guys ever heard of Hell's Gate national park in Kenya? Both lion king and Tomb Raider cradle of life were shot here..
Well there's a canyon that's claimed 14 lives so far.. There is no running there..

  2. How fucken stupid are these adults bringing children in a rain storm which was probably a mile or two away but it makes it way down these canyons getting deeper and running faster the longer it keeps raining' Also have they never heard of checking the weather forecast before taking their children out in these canyons walking and hiking' especially when they go on for many miles before you come out to safety' never do this stupid shit guys' always check the weather forecast's before and during your outdoors walks inside these big canyons that seem to go on forever' this was very stupid for this family to do without first checking whether minutes if yo the weather is going to be good that day for hiking through dangerous canyons that can flood in minutes and you will end up all being killed by drowning' would have been better if they all climbed out of this flooding canyon guys.
Stupid idea not checking the weather conditions up steam on this family hiking day out in this killer Canyon guys. Always Check for RAIN' this could have ended very badly guys' think what the risk;s are when hiking in a canyon' always carry a radio that will give you up to date or minute by minute weather reports if your going to go walking / hiking in any canyons or mountains' this is very important guys so please do this to keep you all safe.
    Peace out people.
WEATHER REPORTS = A MUST IF YOUR GOING HIKING IN THE CANYONS.

  3. It would be great seeing a big fucken rock boulder coming straight down and crushes these 2 fucken stupid morons to death' now that would be worth seeing on a YOUTUBE Video. lol' This is so fucken boring only after just 14 seconds in to this video and I'm fucken out of here bitch's

  4. Really, you just put your kids life in danger due to flash floods that you knowingly continued or even thought of entering the canyon..WHAT A Case, IDIOT, child endangerment !! Where are the experienced adults , you can't outrun or forecast a flash flood due to the majority of the rain is falling miles from where you are but when it reaches you its coming at you like a heard of elephants !!

  5. That's not funny.
Humans are unable to sense/ percieve danger- in time
They are unable to act accordingly.

The end is within 20 years now .

We have calculated that we can live without living oceans , rainforests…
We just need cool robots and nuclear reactors ( fusion )

The end times will be diabolical.

Your cel phone wont save you.

  6. Have these two grown-up men become completely disturbed to risk their children's lives? This is an example that adults are a threat to children !!

  7. Very stupid move. A wall of water could've come any second without warning. Epitome of stupidity. Putting you're kids lives at risk. No dad if the year award for you.

  8. Neither adult can be heard comforting or reassuring the young boys! Were they scared too? Little soldiers those two! I bet they grow up to be really fun dads… I hope…

  9. when you see the canyon when its dry, you wonder how on Earth it gets its strangely sculpted walls. It isn't until you see the water cascading in  that you realise exactly how its done… and you get a whole new appreciation for both the power of water, and the great intricacy and vibrancy of Mother Earth…

  10. This father puts his kids at risk and they learn nothing about safety first and responsability. It’s not a case of living the great life versus watch the life in videos. It’s a case of stupidity and put kids’s lives in jeopardy. What a silly lesson! And he is proud enough to put this on display! He dosen’t deserve to keep his kids, he is not a good responsible father.

  11. Unbelievable how many people commented with "fun", "adventure", "wow, scary but great memories"… A little bit more rain and it would have been a seething mass of 2ft wide logs ripping and grinding the little children and their daypacks to unrecognizable silt-filled nothingness.
