In the third episode of this tsunami series, we visit Sri Lanka Island. It was the second most affected country of the 2004 Indian Ocean disaster. Here we map the effects of the tsunami in various places on the island and recall the greatest train crash of history caused by this wave. The video document is educational in nature and its aim is to inform about the effects of the tsunami, not to be shocked by explicit destruction, so you will not find “shocking” footage here, but mainly maps, information and other context. Enjoy the video.

11:16 that scene is one of the most horrifying moment. It was taken from a Hollywood film, The Impossible. Based on true story of Spanish family that spend their Christmas holiday in Khao Lak, one of the most devastated places struck by tsunami in Thailand!???. I've watched this movice thrice as still until this moment I cannot hold my tears when watching it especially when they had separated and nearly died after the disaster???

Thankyou for update
The waves actually spread all the way to Namibia. In my home town of Luderitz it reached a height just over half a meter. Not high but still noticeable. There's this inlet that focused the wave into it. At the opening it was barely noticeable, but once it got to the other end 10 kilometers from the entrance, it was about 60 centimetres high. Once it reached the shore it continued another 2 kilometers to the other side of the salt pan, and then another 100 meters further beyond the road that goes around the pan.
Come on, 7:40 is japan 2011
Watching those videos the day after Christmas in 2004 was both horrible and fascinating. RIP to all those people.
