Rebecca Lessard:
As a follow up to the rescue video of the bald eagle on feb 1, 2019
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe5XtDg0FxQ). On Sunday, February 10, 2019, Wings of Wonder invited the public to the release of this bald eagle from the Suttons Bay High School parking lot. The Grand Traverse Band drummers and singers started the event out with a beautiful spiritual song honoring this adult bald eagle. Hundreds of people, of all ages, came to witness the eagle fly free once again. The eagle flew off, towards the Lake Michigan shoreline, with grace, purpose and strength landing on a tree branch about 300 yards away. Within minutes 2 adult bald eagles appeared, soaring overhead, checking out the perched eagle. It was a glorious day indeed.

Imagine if that eagle had got wrapped around that telephone cable after all that. You’d be like, The fuck.
was the eagle struggling or their legs are suposed to jolt like that when they take off?
Eagle flew away so fast
Humans can be awesome to animals! I wish they put this much concern into helping each other.
You need to fix the link that you had posted. It's saying 404 Not Found when it is clicked on. You have to manually copy the address properly and post it in your browser to get to the video link. Great video, btw!
I can only imagine what the eagle thought of his release ceremony. The banging, the human noises… I’m guessing he was like I’m gonna die now.
Yeah I know, but I don’t mean to disrespectful. I would think after that harrowing experience, then all those humans, and the noises, the banging… if that doesn’t scare it to death, nothin' will.
horrible
Beautiful, that's all 🙂
Look at all those people that showed up… why?
Love you guys for doing this, what a majestic and beautiful animal
Outstanding. What a great thing to witness. Thank you so much.
Is that a power line at the end of the video? Kind of ironic that it flies towards something man made that tends to put them in harm's way.
Beautiful to watch on Christmas Day thank you for shaing.. !
Its dope how the community showed up and some ppl made a drum circle.
The word that came to me as I watched this was, respect. Respect for the bird, respect for culture, respect for community, respect for all. Thank you.
Jesus scare the bird more.
Thank you…. very moving.
Right after the end of the video, it hit the power lines and exploded, showering the crowd in eagle guts…
The rescuer’s smile in the beginning.
You quietly and calmly rescued it, placed it in a covered up cat carrier to keep it calm, let it rehab in a closed area to keep it calm, and you release it in front of a crowd with a group of people moaning at the top of their lungs and banging on a deerskin drum presumably to scare the crap out of it and stress it out so it would fly away?
Holding that poor eagle while surrounded by people with drums beating must have been very stressful for him. A quiet release would have been much better for the bird
I thought it was guna fly into that pole
great Rehab work , awesome to see the Eagle released
eagle didnt want to leave but knew his time to fly the coop was `UP'
Great for the Humans, not for the Wild Eagle. Banging Drums and tons of people?
Beautiful eagle. Promptly went out, found another beast in trouble as he once was, and then ate it.
That is so cool! Love all those folks turned out. I'm going to come volunteer for you when I retire. Well done!
