On a recent trip to Colombia, we were walking on the beach when we stumbled upon the most heartbreaking dog you could imagine seeing. At the time, I wasn’t sure how I could save this dog. I gave him water and tried to find him some food. We couldn’t take him with us on a bus back to town. But I couldn’t forget the image of him and his sweet eyes. I knew I could at least reach out to anyone locally who could help. I had to try.
He was in dire condition, skin and bones, days away from death. She brought him to the vet so he could begin to heal and to recover. We named him Gus and his journey to a happy life can finally begin.
