This sweet boy’s name is Zeus. He has a story before the shelter, that we’re just now finding out about. From what we’re told, a lady saw a truck pulling a U-haul, pull over, and unload Zeus. They proceeded to tell him to sit, and stay. They got back in the truck, and drove off. Zeus was running trying to follow his “owners” ? We have reached out to the lady that originally saw this, and will do everything we can to find and prosecute his former “owners”. We’ll share more info as we receive it. For now, this is all we know.
Upon arriving at animal control, the first thing that hit me when I reached his kennel, was the smell. The entire kennel row where he was smelled like burning, rotting flesh. He patiently sat on his bed, just waiting for us to take him. He let us harness him, and was VERY happy to be leaving the pound. All the while, leaving a trail of blood and pus all the way to the car. ?
We rushed Zeus straight to our vet, where Dr. Jennings was ready and waiting for us.
The mass on his neck is a tumor, and is literally the size of a small watermelon.
It’s so heavy, it’s pulling one of his ears down.
When he walks, it bumps on curbs, and he can’t even sniff anything without it dragging everywhere.
We have him scheduled for surgery to remove the mass on Monday morning with Dr. Darger.
While under anesthesia, he will also have bloodwork done, and be neutered. He has a small granuloma on his back foot,
most likely from stress licking at the pound. For now, he’s been vaccinated, is heartworm & tick fever negative,
and has been started on some super strong antibiotics.
The surgery took HOURS of tedious work, but thankfully Dr. Darger was able to get good margins and remove the tumor.
It weighed a whopping 2 pounds! However, we are definitely not out of the woods quite yet.
He is the sweetest guy! We’re all pretty smitten with him, quite honestly. He’s been doing great here, at home-base.
He’s been eating, drinking and receiving love and butt scratchies like a pro! He’s quite the lover.
? He’s been tolerating his antibiotics just fine…no upset tummy.

I wish the person who witnesses this had gotten their license plate. I wish, just once, we’d see those horrible, heartless people caught and, at least, jailed. Zeus looks great. Thank you all.
If this was in the United States, why didn't you get the license plate number off of the trunk? And take a cell phone picture. I'm sure you had that. And turned it into the police department. This is animal abuse United States has a along now signed by President Trump called The Pact Act. You cannot abuse animals and turtles any animals. You cannot starve them beat them drag them torture them. Hang them. Crush, them dogfights. It is now a federal felony signed by President Trump November 25th, 2019. You will be given a heavy fine and could spend 7 plus years in a federal penitentiary depending on the crime. Turn these people in for animal abuse, please if this is in United States start turning these people in and get them to pay for the punishment that they have given to animals. Turn them in and forced them to pay the crime in a penitentiary. And I don't know why people here in the United States get videos and get dogs and tell the story and collect money and yet don't even bother to turn the animal abuser in when we have a federal law. It is a federal felony now to harm and animal if you don't turn them in your just as guilty.
Those PEOPLE should be tracked down and arrested. This is why I dislike PEOPLE. Only an ANIMAL could do things like this and worse.
God knows how long the heartless bastards left this poor guy left to suffer before dumping him when he needs them most

Who ARE theese people…to dump Zeus like THIS ?? He gave them his life, his love, and when he was ill, when the tumor was obvious to everyone, they just LEFT HIM ?? He´s absolutely gorgeous…SO sweet, loving everyone and discarded, because he was ill…God Bless you for saving him, healing him and loving him, I really hope there will be a caring, loving home just waiting for him .
