I think he is just wanting to eat a part of the string, or trying to tear it just to see what happens. Or may be trying to carry it so that he can observe it later in private.

Parrots should be left in the wild. They do not belong where there is a chance that they will annoy neighbors. Do not buy a parrot if you live in an apartment, townhouse, or house near other houses. Be considerate. These birds are INCREDIBLY noisy and they will cause you nothing but trouble with your neighbors. BE CONSIDERATE!!!!
