It looks deadly down here in Ironbridge. Not only is the water high, but its moving fast as well. Hell of a sight, but not the lazy River Severn we're often used to. pic.twitter.com/wk3ohl8nFM

I worry about the increasing rate of urbanisation and deforestation. As time goes on, flooding may become a more common occurance and more difficult to tackle.
A wide variety of things can still be done to help protect people and properties.
Flood defences in all forms should be heavily encouraged.
Dredging the rivers and lakes should be considered.
Where possible, trees and conifers could be planted. Once they grow to a certain size, they soak up water and help keep the surrounding soil dry. They may not completely stop flooding, but they could help reduce the amount of water flooding through the towns depending on the amount of rainfall.
Another good thing about conifers is they act as a natural wind barrier.
Why don’t the dummies in government open up all the canals so all the water has free flow of movement back to to sea. Dummies
Ah don’t you just love the solar minimum
Stop building house's the water has got no where to go
Well the mankind should prepare to see more huge flooding , after this year almost from ice from Antarctica was melted because the global warming ,most probably in 10 years five procent from all land will be submerged underwater forever !
It was so cute watching those ducks ? swimming alone down
the road .
Dennis the menace
Time to let the new flood plains become established and given a chance to develop.
Most high don't like ugliness.
?????????????????????????? I have great sympathy for these people having been flooded to a depth of four feet, in my house over fifty years ago. Wherever I’ve moved my family to since, I have always taken altitude into account !! I now live in an area, in the countryside, that is at least 400 feet above sea level which is on sloping ground a couple of miles from the sea. I’m very lucky but I would urge all house buyers, especially young first time buyers, to seriously check the elevation of the intended property. Flooding is probably even worse than fire, for it affects such a huge area and people are unable to give the support needed, to each other, because they are all in same predicament. (I was going to say in the same boat, but that is too literal !!) Fires are truly devastating but usually are confined to a small area and unaffected neighbours are the epitome of help and comfort at such an awful time. My highest praise to all the emergency services. Bravo !!
We need water like here at California ????????
Our current government and previous ones are a waste of fucking space. They have been allowing new housing to be built on floodplains for years. Why is it allowed to happen and why on earth are people buying them because once you do get flooded you will not get insurance again and your house is rendered worthless. You will not be able to sell it. Just stop buying new houses on floodplains and they will stop building them! I also find it annoying that the government are ploughing 100bn into HS2, something we don't need, when all that money could be diverted into building defenses and improving flood management. We also need a cap on our population because we have hit the limit for the UK. We are set to hit the 70million mark and are currently building 200/300k homes a year. This is totally unsustainable and eroding all of that land which helps reduce flooding, to replace it with concrete, you have a serious problem! Just wait till next year when all these areas flood again and again. It's a joke!
Shocking yeah that water isn't going anywhere..?
? storm Dennis has been here for almost two weeks now.
Aren't any of you guys thinking that maybe just MAYBE this weather is NOT natural, is man made and is lingering here because it's being controlled/manipulated?
This means that there is a government above our government as this weather is worldwide. We think the one world order isn't a thing when it's OBVIOUSLY operating right now. The government's that we think are running our countries are nothing but faces to show the public, they are puppets, one big play.
YouTube – "owning the weather by 2025" … all the evidence you need to prove weather modification is real and has been going on years and years, but now their operations have been intensified and our weather is worse than ever they bring the "global warming" bullshit back out of the closet so ordinary people (sheeple) will blame the global warming lie for the crazy weather and not weather modification as they haven't actually come out and told the public "were going to be spraying heavy metals into the sky to reflect sun rays away from earth and cool it down because it's hot and the sea levels are rising.
Absolute bollocks! The sea level in Australia is a little below what it was 100 year's ago and earth is actually COOLING and has been for years.
Lack of sunlight effects the human body directly. We need it to synthesize vitamin D and it effects our morale. Lack of sunlight makes humans lethargic and depressed, not only this but it weakness our immune system.
There's the facts. It's up to you to find the knowledge to back up what's been said. "Owning the weather by 2025" ?
Weather control – adverse effects on our weather and our bodies… Then there's our crops that suffer growth loss from lack of sunlight.
Weather modification could be used for good and I'm sure that's what scientists thought they was doing in the beginning but look at our weather now.
It's being used to make our lives miserable.
They have the power to stop any weather systems. Stop hurricanes and alike but instead they fuel the storms.
ARE WE GOING TO ALLOW TIS TO CONTINUE????
Major disruption to the normal working day. Normal being abnormal.
Nature has shortened the working day to zero and this is a loss of profits, wages, rents, interest.
When schools cannot be opened, stores cannot be stocked, trains cannot move, trucks cannot travel, houses cannot stand to house families nor function to meet the basic of all biological need, farms cannot grow and domesticated mammals can not graze?
Any society ceases to live if production comes to a halt.
Where will all the products come from if all products come from one place and that place has halted production by a mass quarantine?
How will all the needs of people be met if people cannot get to work and the workplaces are destroyed by a deluge of water?
When dry land has decreased and land formerly above sea level is now below sea level has lost its fertility andpresents a risk of disease and bacteria.
What becomes of all the children and their future made fragile and insecure?
Wawww..
Severn needs permanent water flood defences.
When are we going to learn and stop building on the flood plain? Even building on regular fields is stopping water soaking into the ground. We need to protect the environment more or flooding in the UK will only get worse!! ??♂️?
The 7 P's clearly not implemented by the government here.
Their homes and local areas never flood of course! In 'Zero fucks given out of touch with reality ville'.
They ain't defences there shite
The continued building of 400k houses a year contributed to this, covering the uk in more concrete continues to have adverse effects, immigration has forced this in a massive way. Also drive ways with block paving too continues to add even more to the problem, the cutting down of road side trees due to stupid heath and safety puts even more pressure towards the escalating problem, as they sucked millions of gallons of water from the ground.
Simple if the water can’t soak into the ground it ends up draining into main steam rivers. FACT
Hope everyone is safe, and this will end soon,so horrible for you folks, greetings from Denmark?
Pray around the world to the other country with flood problem too it like the world it come to a end.
Caused by Climate Change.
Earth doing its best to rid the filth of mankind. Bravo.
Christ Jesus is coming back repent repent and begin to prepare the way for Jesus otherwise you will be ashamed on that day
if the water had anywhere to go it wouldn't be there love. Wherever it should be going is blocked from the first flood, the second flood, the third flood and the fourth flood etc ad infinitum, each area is now a colour coded mud bath with a block plug, 3 spots of rain will do it next time. River management and drain clearance cost money, rain and the enviroment prozac agency is free except for their moronic waste of time pathetic little dainty fence Nature completely ignores as a not very subtle hint of being ignored, River is probably 2 feet deep and the rest is silt. One million £1,000,000 every hour they still send to the EU would pay for work to start but they can always stand around and watch for giant invisible Beavers in their waterproof pants instead. Sad waste of nice Homes, don't you have 2 others like the MP's that take your tax off you while they get Westminster's roof fixed in case it rains?
i don't know how brussels managed to pull this one off
Will they still do food banks.by the river banks
Invite Franklin Graham to preach. He will give the Word from the Lord that will bless the people and give them hope to find forgiveness and peace in the midst of the storm.
Not the first flood won't be the last. We have been through a terrible bush fire season here in Bundanoon east coast Australia. Now heaps of rain.
It's just weather. Good luck.
It was only 6 years ago that David Cameron (Con…Complete con…Conservative) Stood on the Somerset Levels and said>>"Money? Money is NO OBJECT! We,re going to fix this!"…They fixed it alright!…Brexit!…Boris (IICSA inquiry is pissing money up the wall) Johnson is The LIAR prime-Minister!…In Liverpool…They love Boris as much as the SUN!…"Get Brexit Done!"….They need a GPS to find their arseholes!…Warton.Carnforth.LA5
This is so devastating. ??
SW is being hit hard, Please Don't forget Yorkshire, As usual Floods hitting hard up here too, But BBC says little about it
So much for that wall
Crazy to think this is still flooded in parts of the UK, i live down south central in Bedfordshire & were completely fine, not 1 problem at all, were so lucky down here not to get anything. If I didn’t hear about the news we wouldn’t know any difference here, just a bit of rain for us.
