Rest In Peace ??wow
Maybe throw a floating boat or a basket for them so all of them can get inside
Too poor rescue tactic.
That's why I hate flying ☹
The name Lenny Scutnivk is now as American as baseball and apple pie . . . !!! Lenny . . . A True American . . . !!
Man I know that water was so cold.
My heart goes to all those family's rest in peace
Did they ever get the rest of the plane out or is it still there?
Arland was a hero. I hope he is resting in peace.
How do people on I shouldnt be alive stay alive for hours if not days in horrible iced conditions and ice cold waters, yet these people are dying from being in water 30 minutes from the cold
There all heroes they saved lives
Pilot was definitely not qualified to be licensed. Someone passed him as a favor or he had someone else take his tests.
God bless all of those who helped ?
God isn't real
I think the rescuers should have used an inflatable raft to get as many survivors as they can in addition / instead of the helicopter… Great they rescued 5 but it could be better tactical approach for quick rescue….
When I was young I remember there was a plane that crashed into the icy water and they were trying to save a lot of ppl and the helicopter tried to save ppl with the safety ring and fly them to safety in the air but a lot were falling off bc they could not hang on and I remember there was a man who kept passing the ring so others could be saved before him, Then shortly after a movie was made by what happened. However, I don't remember the details of where and when. Then I came across this film and had some of the similarities of what I remember. The plane crash into the icy water, Arland passing the ring and sadly after passing away and a little of how the life ring was used in which ppl were not able to hold on.
I also remember after the plane crash, they remade the life ring that had a strap on the inside that would help grab the ppl better even if they were not able to physically hold on. They even demonstrated it on tv, you could just have your one hand or even a foot (so yes you would be upside down) inside the ring and strap and when the ring was being pulled by the safety ppl it would hold them in strong enough that it would not let go. I was young though so a lot of the details are off. Whenever I look at life rings now, I do see the staps. I wish I remembered more correct information but I was too young. This film was so sad and that sadly so many passed away due to human error. Thank you for making this fim.
The moral of the story is DO NOT pass up your turn to be rescued. SAVE YOUR LIFE FIRST
That Roger guy did nothing except waste the resources and first responders’ time.
15 mins for the helicopter to arrive? Leave it to government!
I wonder if the 2 volunteer rescue swimmera had to have the tube put into their stomach with warm salt water also?
I thought 0:48 was going to be the Sixth man. Do you think if he kept the rope instead of passing it off that they would have been able to pull him out?
Man doesn't seem right to set here and downgrade this rescue teem efforts but what a disastrous action they did. Wasn't it easier if they jumped and air lifted them 1by1 instead of dragging theme like dat !! Sorry but this looks a failure not a heroic at all. And man those mf firefighters stood their watching that poor lady drowning wtf! That hero guy had to jump and swim to rescue her. Shame on yall
I don't know what is worse: extreme cold or extreme heat
Pilot AND First Officer are responsible for the initial pre flight checks.
What a dumbass pilot yo!! How you forget something so critical especially during such conditions! Smh…
De icing is something that should just spark in your mind to do, without running through a checklist in order to have it tell you what to do, get me?? Ridiculous…
Very poor rescue it's nothing difficult out there it was just down the bridge. Why it took so long to rescue? OMG people
God da** my cup of chocolate milk is empty…. & i ran out of milk… i can't believe this is happening to me…
Rest in peace to everyone who passed away??♥️‼️
Every five minutes they do a recap of the facts, near as I can tell just to extend the video, we've all been watching from the beginning. i've notied this in a lot of videos and it is really irritating.
Air Florida never recovered from this. Two guys (brothers) I worked with that went to work for Fedex Express after Air Florida closed its operation just retired from Fedex last week after 38 years. They said the flight attendant that survived tried to go back to work and quit after a week.
I realize that this was true and actually happened. But was all of this staged for TV viewing? Or was a lot of this actual footage? Seems to me it would be very difficult to stage all those car wrecks and also people in the water with ice chunks.
Watching from Jamaica ????????
