You should actually be thankful for them, they are the ones out there risking their lives to warn others. They are the ones who gather information about tornados to make sure we’re ready for them. Yeah people have died (RIP Twistex) but that was one of the most unpredictable tornadoes in existence. People do that for thrills and precaution, be thankful.

Tornadoes are rare. No wrong. I lived through the joplin tornado. I think you mean only the eF5 is rare but trust me is does happen and when it does lives are changed forever. Only 1% of twisters are classified as the monster ef5.

Its vital for you to get your info right, what you described was a Supercell Thunderstorm over the ocean with a Tornado however the more common type is substantially weaker. Now I would say there are 100% safe they can get pretty windy but compared to their Tornado counterparts they are nothing.
