The Man That Rescues Dogs (Thailand's Soi Dogs)
Spread The Viralist

Sadly, Thailand has more than 2 million street dogs. These dogs are ownerless, abandoned and most of them are starving, skinny and sick, covered with scabs or fleas. It’s a horrible situation that has gained little attention from the outside world — until a Swedish man named Michael came to town.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Michael today (AKA The man that rescues dogs) at his home/dog warehouse in rural Thailand. I was fascinated to hear his story of how he has (literally) rescued thousands of dogs off the streets and given them food, shelter and health care.

Join me today as I introduce you into Michael’s life — a life which has been entirely devoted to saving dogs. It doesn’t get any more inspiring than this… Thoughts?

Special thanks to Michael for the edits (IG: @affinityadventure)

  1. This is purely anecdotal but from what I see walking around the streets of Bangkok is people do look after the soi dogs and cats. I see people feeding them each night and letting then sleep outside the shop.

  2. Hi Drew. Came across this video today..I would love to volunteer for some time with this foundation in Thailand. How can I get engaged. I'm from Sri Lanka
    And I love animals

  3. I am nowhere near this kind man.I have rescued 11 dogs and 15 cats in my six years living in Thailand. I wish the Thai government acted on the Soi dog issue. Some Thai people love owning dogs but don't take care of them. They let them wander around they neighborhood, re producing and attracking anything that moves. They don't desex them or even give them dog food. It's scraps from the table and then do what you like. The Thai government need to make laws to stop this irresponsible behavior.Own a pet, care for a dog.

  4. Is that you Drew? you are visiting that dog rescue camp in Thailand. Good on you mate.I have no word to describe how I feel about the abandon dogs. My heart aches.

  5. You can't spend money and kill dog every year.
Many developed country : Hold my beer
ps. Thailand don't even kill dogs that often and that's what cause the stray dog problems to begin with. People only complain about it but no one actually help them like this guy.

  6. Thank you, Michael, for saving the dogs! You are an Angel on earth! People like you deserve so much more recognition and appreciation! Thank you, Drew, for making this video and bringing more awareness on the stray dogs situation in Thailand! There's another organization called Soi Dog Foundation that also saves the stray dogs and cats in Thailand in case you're interested. Thanks again!

  7. Just came back from thirty days in Thailand, and yes I love dogs. However Thailand has Countless Packs of starving wild-ish street dogs everywhere. During the hot day they sleep, and ignore passers by. At night they are deadly, and follow their wild instincts. The mentality of "Micheal; the man who rescues dogs" is delusional and dangerous. I am sorry if this is an unpopular point of view, but I invite him to take a jog after sunset if he wants to face reality.
The solution is very complicated, but "loving" them does not remove the problem or lesson the danger….
Just interjecting a little sanity, into the Walt Disney nonsense of this video.
