On 24th November, 2009, John Jones – a 26 year old medical student and devout family man – was back home in Utah with his pregnant wife and their young daughter for the holidays.
During the stay, he and a group of 10 other friends and family members arranged a trip down the Nutty Putty Cave system, a supposed beginners’ cave located near the family’s home in Salt Lake city.
But the trip would quickly turn into a hellish nightmare, causing one of the most unusual and arguably terrifying deaths in caving history, leading to the Nutty Putty caves being sealed shut forever.
This is the story of the Nutty Putty Cave incident.
✦ About ✦
The Real Horror Channel is the place for all things really horrifying. I simply tell you real stories that haunt me in a mini-documentary format. Please enjoy!
Sorry I can’t upload more regularly, I do this around a full time job (which I hate and has probably taken several years off my life already). When I get 300 Patreons I will quit my job and do this full time and then you will all have more horrifying content than you know what to do with. Muahahaha!

I don't understand why people put them selfs in such a position?? What is the thrill to put you in so small spaces where you can't back out of it!???
I don't understand. Is there treasure in the caves? Or anything valuable or amazing to see? No it's a wet, dirty hole wtf would you want to go in it for?
Hey fellow Brit ? Just found you via Disasterthon. I loved this video – production value is ? I was familiar with the story but it’s, none the less, still nightmare fuel..
My idea of proper caving equipment involves pickaxes, minecarts, wood and several construction handbooks.
Wow, my condolence goes out to Mrs. Jones… Rest In Peace Mr. Jones.
Im just happy none of the rescuers died in saving him.
This is the best video on this horrible situation. Very well done. But what do I know? I just watch. Lol I recommend ‘The Last Descent’ movie about this. Very well done. It’s free on YouTube.
I think this so called sport needs to be banned outright. Puts too many people at risk.
Fuck all the way off with this shit.
Yep, I'm definitely claustrophobic. Just watching people wriggle through all those narrow, unyielding tunnels made me want to cry.
I do not have claustrophobia… but this will cause me to never explore a cave
If he was able to crawl in there, they should have been able to get him out… the rescue team failed him and his family.
Keep doing videos like this and you’ll be at 1mil subscribers soon. Subscribed ?
This death was very tragic and would have been avoided if he had forsaken his folly. There was nothing to gain, but much to lose. So what if he managed to make it through that cave or squeeze through that hole. It's folly that says, "do this", and everyone follows after it.
Humans. Our greatest strength as a species is also our greatest weakness…..we rarely properly consider consequences.
I will never go caving.
I read a book about Floyd Collins as a child. After that no way would I ever step foot in a cave.
Almost 12yrs since he passed away his body is still there stuck, his soul will forever be hunting the cave.. what an agonizing death oh Lord. ?
The last time i went caving was when i came out my mother.
Yep make sure you keep doing the same bullshit videos everyone else has done A MILLION fucking times toolbag.
He was married and had kids. What a reckless, foolish thing to do.
What of they is a snake in the holes.
so nobody noticed in the opening picture of him and his wife, they labeled him Josh? come on now.
It's crazy to think he'll be in there for forever, perfectly preserved, like a time capsule
This is absolutely terrifying- If you must enter a cave try Meramec Cavers in Missouri. They’re HUGE! ☮️
Spelunkers probably hate this guy. He was inexperienced, made bad decisions, got himself stuck, & they lost a cave ?
I didn't understand… Couldn't the rescuer inject him some anesthetics and try whatsoever (even break his legs) to remove him from that position?
Everyone gangsta until they enter the nutty putty cave system
Excessive rgb
This must be a new channel because there's no way with content this good it should have just over 2,000 subs. I'll be sub # 2,17x (x=0-9) and that is getting onto something early nice job, well done.
I have to quit watching videos, besides making me bawl my eyes out. It is hurting my mental health. ???
I only found about this yesterday and have been horrified since. I am SO glad they sealed up Silly Puddy or whatever you call it to stop you World-beating, Thrill-seeking daredevils from trying to feel alive by taking yourselves to the edge. This was a senseless death and it angers me.
This is what ALL my nightmares are made of….
Looks like human worms. I know people like doing this, but I can’t find any reason to enjoy this sport.
I've seen this same story on horror stories, fascinating horror, etc but this was very well done u really explained just how Effed the situation was including the illustrations . This story is my own personal nightmare. I'm very very claustrophobic but these type of vids remind me exactly why I am lol.
Thx new sub here ?
R.i.p to john and condolences to the Jones family ?
I felt suffocated watching this.
I’ve been to the Nutty Putty caves. I went to university near there. Most students would go there at least once. The people I went with were not experienced at all. We were all ridiculously naive, and very lucky.
What a sad story, at least he didn't died alone…
Just one word.. why .. ???
I went spelunking once. It was fun. But I would never go again.
Just subbed ????
