It’s no secret that Charleston is one of South Carolina’s most haunted cities. The SCETV production team decided to highlight a place with lots of claims of unexplained paranormal phenomena…the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point.
The USS Yorktown has a long history dating back to World War II. The ship was a safe haven for her crew and now is a symbol of freedom and liberty.
Do you believe in ghosts or do you think this is all just hocus-pocus? Let us know via Facebook and Twitter @palmettoscene.
A special thanks to the crew of the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point and USS Yorktown Ghost Tours.

Being a US Marine Vet myself I get chocked up hearing these stories. Semper Fi my Brothers Rest easy now.
I could have sworn I saw a guy in uniform cross a doorway when I was in the engine room I explored more and no one was in the room.
I went to tour this ship, didn't see any ghost though.I guess only some people
people can see them.
I’m going to it right now and I think I’ll be on the watch while I vlog
I’ve seen a ghost in the Engine room once it was a sailor in a sailor uniform
I spent 2 nights on the Yorktown with my boys scout troop. I was in one of the rooms and while I was walking out the door slammed behind me and I saw a shadow figure standing right in front of me.
Hah! I had a full conversation with a spirit on the uss Missouri. Followed me to the haunted hanger and talked some more. Also an fyi, the hat is mentioned is a flat hat, which means it was a sailor wearing dress blues.
We all ghosts in living bodies, FOR NOW
ghosts are demonic ( demons) familiar spirits,,,,,,tricking humans, its a game to them, to bait us
They won’t hurt you. ?
I was there in the 80s with a military group. While we were touring the ship, a friend and I had stopped in the infirmary. We were standing facing each other. While we were talking to each other, I felt some poke my arm. I turned to my left expecting one of our group behind me. There was no one there.
When I was on it less then a week ago… I heard a mans voice during the day and I thought it was another visitor and when I looked down the alleyway I thought I’d see someone but I didn’t so I went down the hall and there was no open doors that was close enough for the voice to be from, so I wrote it off as maybe sound just travels on a metal ship, so I continued touring so I went to the officers mess I think it was, and I smelled coffee and cigarettes and I didn’t believe it, then I looked up Ghosts of the USS Yorktown and now I’m here.
I Love the USS YorkTown The ghosts on there should respected and honored
did it ever move through an electro magnetic field?
I went to the Yorktown with my kids yesterday, and we all had some interesting experiences while there.
Did anyone else notice that this was posted on Halloween…
i remember visiting the ship when we lived in south carolina, saw someone dressed in military uniform and when i mentioned it to one of the employees i was told they didnt have anyone on board in military uniform. as i envisioned the person i remember their skin did look kind gray.
There is nothing on that ship that will harm you, Thank you dad rest in peace.
God Bless all the men and women who gave their lives to defend our Country!
Spent the night in the crew quarters as Boy Scouts here. Not too spooky.
Would try stay there challenging it.
I don’t believe in “ghosts,” BUT I Do believe in evil entities!!! Stay away from such business! It can open one up to uninvited, negative un-embodied mischief!

Just took my son there last weekend!
When I was younger I went to school in South Carolina. We had a field trip to the Yorktown. We stayed the night a slept in the bunks like the sailors did. The spirits never messed with us. They are American Sailors. I honestly felt safe there. They protect us in life and death.
Edit: This must have happened 20 years ago.
I see a ghost 2 when i was high school at the side mirror she's long hair and her dress s white i didn't see her face ..
Charleston has lots of ghost… Now heres a ghost not necessarily relative to Charleston.
That Helicopter photograph is particularly Spectacular. What a stellar catch!
