Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii

Woah, did you see how high that lava went? Hawaii, which is home to three volcanoes, saw eruptions from the Kilauea Volcano that went on for 4 months straight and resulted in the displacement of 2000 residents, destruction of 700 houses, and wastage of 1600 acres of farmland. While people were evacuated from the island on helicopters, lava fountain outbreaks went up to 300 feet and injured many! Even though this happened in 2018 and Hawaii has recovered from the catastrophe quite a bit, the scar it has left is still tender. Maybe this would make you reconsider those Hawaii plans of yours.

Anak Krakatau volcano, Indonesia

This footage looks straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster! In 2018, the Anak Krakatau island volcano in Indonesia erupted following a deadly tsunami. The perfect conical shape of the mountain combined with the red hot glowing lava running down its slope makes this eruption everything our volcano dreams was made of. Just look how breathtakingly beautiful this looks! The good news is that no one died due to the eruption. The bad news is that there were 20 deaths and 165 injuries due to the tsunami that caused the eruption in the first place. And oh the volcano partially collapsed after the eruption too.

  1. I was living in Anchorage Alaska at the time Mt. Redoubt erupted. I was in 2nd grade and can remember having to go anywhere out of the house with our faces completely covered except for our eyes so we didn't breathe the ash in from the eruption
