Outstanding explanation of what happened. The toy car is a Chevrolet – just pointing that out…..
…
Outstanding recounting.
I saw a
Man with wings
So could it be mothman
It's after-the-fact engineering. Imagine the stress on the Golden Gate Bridge with 88 years of exposure to salt-laden air. They paint it continually to stave off corrosion but who really knows what the condition of those thousands of cables are inside?
Roberto Clemente Bridge is an architectural marvel. It's iconic view from the right field grandstands of PNC Park is what makes it a permanent landmark. Also, the reason they call us the city of bridges isn't because of the amount of bridges in the region, but because of how we construct them.
This is how moth man was made
To this day occasionally form is thought to have some sort of genetic superiority so the rigorous testing and analysis get circumvented. What is the old adage about the king’s clothing? The weak links are discovered with disciplines called design failure modes and effects analysis, how crude a phrase for something created by an artist. My boss was asked to critique the body structure of a DeTemoso design. He found several weak links. Mr. DeTamaso told my boss to take the car home for the night and see if that changed his mind. The artist vs the engineer. The DeTamaso in a later form morphed into the GT40. Design analysis was a little more intense for a race car but still viewed as an limiting factor in design. Aerospace is about the only discipline that escaped the “form before function”. It’s difficult for an engineer to accept that important portions of his work (analytics) are viewed as “hindrances”.
Wonderful time for white America
Holy sh*t what a crowd. No school, or jobs I gather.
Ancient Alien researchers say..you're right!
I remember hearing about the collapse on the radio, when I lived in Cleveland.
MADE IN USA
Real proud strong Americans back then. Now we have weak woke pathetic anti-patriotic people. This country won’t ever be the world leader with the current Biden/Kamala administration.
aint no brige posed too clapps specialy when they gots cars on it !
It was Mothmans' fault!!!! J/k j/k
The movie Mothman brought me to looking this up
Thanks for the good documentary
Good Presentation,
Lololololololololol @ 2:39 A bolt? More like a strand of wire. Very misleading. The only would've been at least 2 inches in diameter but the graphic shows it being no more than 1/8th (roughly 3mm).
I have examples of fretting due to corrosion on my desk as I watch this. The more modern components are made from tough steel and are completely worn out. The decades older parts are made from soft brass and are in perfect condition. Not saying to use softer metals but steel's tendency to fret should always be considered.
if only they put the stop lights BEFORE the bridge and not after
Amen and Amen
What they don't mention is the National Bridge Safety Standards is sorely undermanned and unable to meet the demands for proper and periodic bridge inspections for over one million bridges nationwide.
What is aloominoom?
Hadneverbinsohprosprus..
Nah it was mothman.
I guess you haven't learned anything because another one just happened last week.
Terribly explained
No mention of the Mothman? It was real. There is absolutely no doubt about it.
Mothman…
As I write this the date is September 8, 2021. Has anyone reading this heard of the structural problem with the Interstate 40 bridge into Memphis? The problem was that a horizontal steel beam fractured and had an easily visible opening. I haven't heard what they think caused the problem, but the bridge inspector was fired.
It fell on December 15th. My birthday.
I fell asleep watching this
What's sad is that now in 2021, our bridges and infrastructure are in such bad shape we're at risk of many more collapsing
I remember this. I was a 10 y/o kid living in West Virginia when the news bulletin interrupted whatever we were watching. It was surreal to watch especially knowing most people who were on the bridge were out Christmas shopping.
This was 1920,, during the first world War,, 🌎😳
Nice overview of the first steps towards risk based maintenance as the baseline for structural integrity.
Will not watch any historical or scientific videos narrated by a female.
