That is what happens when you protect an animal from a threat you can not control. Extinction! If you brought half the population in and started a captive breeding program which there are thousands of people who would do that for free and the love of wildlife. In ten years time, there would be no population problem whatsoever. Unfortunately, there is more money in near extinction.

PLEASE do your research! Unless you are working with a recognized and licensed project that reintroduces captive born animals (Including birds) back into the wild, YOU are making the problem worse. Please don't think you can just breed Macaws etc and that will help the problem. If you do the research, you will find that it makes things worse. If you want to help. Do it through a recognized organization that knows how to do it right!!!

Worse….if you breed and sell, you are continue to make things go downhill for these animals. The more "domestic" breeders, the more people want them as pets!

It's so sad… It's even sadder to think that there are so many ppl out there who simply does't give a crap. Who cares if some animal disapears off the surface of the planet some place half across the world, right? I'll tell you why. Because -for all we know- the creatures of the Earth are the only other known living creatures in the freakin' UNIVERSE. As the 'superior' species, it falls to us to preserve life. But instead we continue to poison our own environment. It's so easier to do nothing..

The cause of this is civilization. Modern humans have lived in the world for 100,00+ years. In less than 10,000 years of 'civilization' humans have managed to bring the world on the edge of destruction. I am fueled alternatively by rage and despair because of this fact.

You think animals feel toward you like you do them – and you are so incredibly childish/naive for that. As more and more of you keep talking about 'loving the animals' – we'll see more people trying to feed the lions at the zoo (and other foolish acts)…. and you will be indirectly responsible for their deaths….

The reason i like animals more than people, is that they don't bother me in my everyday life. So from that perspective, and taking our numbers into the equation, humans, as a species have greater chance of ultimate survival with us being over 6 billion, than the tiger that might be under 100k in total numbers.
Human beings are the worst thing to happen to the planet since a comet hit it.
The problem is that you may very well live in a hut in africa, but someone lived there before you 🙂
And of course, we're the more intelligent species, but that doesn't give us a free opportunity to kill all other things, just because we can. We don't need that little grass hut to survive as a species.
