  1. This is amazing my dad and I were only just speculating about natural disasters vs magical tragedies in a game of thrones and a song of ice and fire. My dad and mother are singers and wen another soul sings I listen. You are my angel in the world ice and fire. Iv never read the books before iv only watched and researched the lore and history of game of thrones series. Cheers for teaching me this precious knowledge. Love Danyboy xo

  2. Hi Gemma, very interesting video and great assumptions… Icm hoping for 3 things to know with GoT S8 : 1- NK purpose. 2- who will end on the IT .3- what Podrick did to these whores 😁😁😁

  3. Does anyone else see a parallel between the long night and Warhammer's Winds of Chaos? Could we be in for some twisted season that even the White Walkers are fleeing from ?

  4. A glaring omission is whatever happened to the Fisher Queens. The Dothraki Sea use to be a real sea, the Silver Sea, and the Fisher Queens had a floating palace which has since dried up to three small lakes. The last of the Fisher Queens was said to be the mother of a phonetic variation of Azor Ahai which would date their destruction to the Long Night.

Another shrinking sea is found in The Jogos Nhai area east of the Bone Mountains.

  5. The UK was once attached to Europe. Doggerland was the ancestoral population of most of Europe.
I wonder if the UK originally had an Aboriginal population that called upon the flooding of Doggerland, subsequently creating the UK.
Does this mean the Scotts are wildlings?
I hope we can bring back Mammoths….

  6. Gemma, who do you think is stronger, bran or blood raven bryndon. Bran has showed that he can effect the present by going into the past. Blood raven is more experienced. Bran will become experienced, especially withbthe current conflict, whereas blood raven may have known not to impact the past

  7. H.P. Lovecraft also wrote a short story about a great civilization that suddenly fell because they pissed off some eldritch being, called "the Doom that Came to Sarnath". Not only it is called "the Doom", people of Sarnath were also originally shepherds, just like Valyrians.

Reading Barth's record of Aerea Targaryen in Fire and Blood convinced me that something Lovecraftian was going on with Valyria. So anyways I think it's safe to say something similar happened with Valyria. The Valyrians, consumed by their arrogance and greed, used too much magic and dug too deep in the Fourteen Flames (like the Dwarves of Moria from LOTR). After all the mages controlling Fourteen Flames got killed due to Dragonlords backstabbing each other, they woke up some unspeakable eldritch horror and brought doom upon them.

  8. If we subscribe to the idea that the lands of always winter wrap their way to the five forts, connecting Westeros and Essos, then as the walkers migrate south, we could see that land break, and the ark of Dorne reform.

  9. Some say the world will end in fire,
    some say in ice.
From what i've tasted of desire i hold with those who favor fire.
But if i had to perish twice, i think i know enough of hate
to say that for destruction ice is also great
    and would suffice.

  10. I've used these same examples from my geology of ASoIaF streams regarding the Doom of Valyria and Breaking of Dorne a year ago LOL As a geologist, I find the Doom of Valyria highly unlikely given the supposed timeframe of the catastrophe described in the lore but the Breaking of the Arm can happen, not actively but pasively as the result of sea-level fluctuations due to cyclical glaciation.

  11. It is actually rather hard to drown in quicksand. It is dense enough that a human cannot sink it in much deeper than waist height. Of course, one can get stuck and starve to death.
