At least 77 people have died in Nepal where several days of heavy rain has caused landslides and flash flooding. Local authorities said most of the deaths occurred in the country’s eastern and western regions. While landslides are a regular occurrence in the Himalayan region, environment experts said such natural disasters are becoming more common because of climate change and human activity such as deforestation and dam building.

  1. China is not into Coal, nor not into Fossil fuel, it is being healthy these days for the environment. EVs are efficient as powered by Incinerators and Geothermal power plants. SMEs…….respectively.

  2. This rain will bring spike in food price as the rain have destroyed the crops that was supposed to be harvasted by now. Such rain in this month is unsual. And our courrpt government was is and will be busy distibuting the annual buget among their party members. In 2015 earthquake , none of the internation aid reached out to the victims instead it went dirrctly in the pockets of our corrupt politicians. Even the tents which were donated by other countries for victims were found in the homes of our politicians and their party members. Our country Nepal was dommed after the fall of our King and now we have greedy politicians who dont give a f about the citizens.

  3. Climate change is taking toll. U should know that this is happening in the month of October, and this Retreating monsoon winds blows from Land to Sea, that is from Indian Subcontinent to the Bay of Bengal and eventually into Indian Ocean. But, unexpectedly, a cyclonic circulation had appeared last week, which has been drenching Eastern and Northern India. This was very unexpected.

  4. I don't know if the so-called rising number of deaths due to natural disasters in the world is being attributed to climate change, but, it is certainly known that landslides are nothing new for the Himalayan nation of Nepal. Sorry for the death of 77 people in our brother nation. My condolences to the families of the victims. Rest in Peace.. 🌱
