According to IMDB, it's based on the viral footage shown in this video…that the movie was an "investigation" into the viral footage and other mysterious happenings of "the building"…so I'm willing to bet it's more along the lines of a movie similar to Cloverfield, and that the viral footage was created to back the movie's premace…but who knows.

The footage of Bangunan is actually real. Not from India tho 🤣 it's from Malaysia. They did the movie because they thought it was interesting coz of the back stories behind what happened to that girl.
She was waiting for her boyfriend to come down from the office above her coz he went up there to take his bag. What u dont see is her boyfriend was going down from the office scared because something disturbs him in that office too. But he disappeared and the strange thing is, he could only left the office thru 1 door coz the stairs that lead up to the office only have 1 exit. And he was never captured by the cctv leaving the office. It's like he vanished in thin air. When that happened, shits started going for his girlfriend who waited downstair.
She waited there, playing with her phone. Then suddenly things started to moved. When she wanted to ran out of that meeting room, she cant. It's like that " THING " didn't want her to leave. She knocked herself on the table and fainted.
After the film production saw this cctv, they made it into a short movie. And there's 2 cases involving the same place hence the title BANGUNAN was used as the movie title.
One more case is about this guy name Sam and still missing til this day. Happened at the same building only diff area. His disappearean is almost the same as the boyfriend. They both found something disturbing, ran out of that place where there's only 1 exit but never really got out of that place. It's like they mysteriously vanished in the middle of the staircase.
Our ghost here in Malaysia definitely different from what u saw on the paranormal videos u watched so far. Try and watched some of Malaysian or Indonesian uji nyali ( trying on ur bravery ) then u can see what i mean. 😁
