Tree Cutting FAILS, close calls, and near misses...
Spread The Viralist

Rigging Fails, Hardware fails, Failures of good judgement, and much more. It’s all in here. This is the behind the scenes stuff from the vault. I got my first GoPro camera mounted on my helmet in December 2016, and I’ve been filming ever since. I have only used a small fraction of it for videos up to this point.
I have to be honest with you:
a. I am really glad to have this footage and be able to look back on it.
b. I feel like I have really come a long way in my own knowledge and skill set since starting EC. I look back and see a ton of things that I do differently nowadays. In trying to explain things to others, I have greatly deepened my own understanding.

  1. I worked for a company in nj called hart 2hart gutters and when I was an installer they made me throw two baby squirrels 3storys to there death and that will always haunt me. Your a good person amen.

  2. Watched a man cut his rope in about a 70 foot pine and backflip out to the ground, he impaled himself on a branch on the ground through his stomach….let’s just say it Wasn’t pretty

  3. Minimum rigging is always better. Less things to worry about means less mistakes. That being said every tree is different and making the right decision only becomes apparent after years or experience and or mistakes.

  4. Yes, someone else besides me hates using clove hitches, for the same reasons; they jam and slip.

Appreciate that you showed your mistakes, but I will admit that the lessons from them are beyond me. I am not climbing trees to cut parts off, or using a bucket on a truck.

    Stay safe!

  5. The things I learned operating the bucket truck really paid off climbing. As you know, you can risk a lot more comfortably from the bucket. I found the limitations quicker, and took bigger pieces in the bucket than I would ever do attached to the tree. I am a much better climber now after using the bucket truck for so long. Fun footage 👍

  6. I've got you waay beat if the cemetery was your worse accident. Although I couldn't make sense of why you used the redirect that failed. Hard to say not knowin'.
