8. I learned about a pelican that was rescued after getting caught in fishing line and a hook in its neck. Sadly, despite the best efforts of the Oakland Zoo and the International Bird Rescue, the pelican died from its injuries. If you like to fish, dispose your gear properly.

15. Honestly it amazes me how much at times Robert looks SO MUCH like his father, and then other times more like his mother, but always the resemblance to one or the other is so clear. Thankfully it seems he's managed to find his own personality and chart his own path (still within the family business, of course)! Thanks to everyone who helped this swan pull through for a good ending!

34. We have resident black swans in the lake next to my property. They are such noble birds. The pair have produced this season’s brood of fluffy pink cygnets and the family of five look so graceful. What a champion Robert is and a real Aussie ambassador for native animal awareness and preservation. His father would be proud of him.

Shout out to Terry Irwin and her bringing Bindi, Robert, and now Chandler to become the international representatives for our earth.
