The 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens is the most studied volcanic eruption of the twentieth century. Months before it erupted, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) established a base of operations at Vancouver, Washington to monitor the volcano. On May 18th 1980 the volcano erupted and the volcanic blast devastated the northern flank of the volcano, killing survey volcanologist David Johnston and 56 other victims.

  1. Very educational! Life is reiliant for sure. I want to see more volcanos erupt so we can learn yet more. If there is a lesson here it's this. Volcanos are living laboratories and opportunities for animals to test their steeley resolve. Thank you for posting.
