On December 8, an Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper Mi-17V5 crashed in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others died in the tragedy. Post the news of the crash broke, a video of a MI helicopter crashing mid-air went viral on social media. It claims that it was the same Mi-17V5 chopper that crashed earlier on December 8. The video is being shared on social media with a false claim. The chopper shown in the video is not the Mi-17V5 that crashed in Tamil Nadu. The helicopter was a Syrian Mi17 that was shot down in 2020. The chopper was shot down over Al-Nayrab, Idlib and the incident took place in February 2020. Watch the video to know more.
