  1. That's an old truism that's not true. You can still imprint on an animal and release it into the wild. We had a baby squirrel fall out of its nest and land right in front of us raking leaves. We nursed it back to health and he lived in our basement for about a year before we let him outside to go free. After that he would come back from time to time to visit, get treats and let us pet him, and after a while, it seems he told the other squirrels, because they all started to do the same. He would come over to us and sit in our laps and let us pet him like a dog, then would return to his new home in the trees. Many other examples exist. These owls would be no worse off if they had imprinted on the people.

  2. This is all very nice, of course, but I remember going with my father to the tundra (Norilsk Russia), we went far and were able to watch the killing of a mouse, or a vole, I don’t know, an owl. it's a pretty cruel sight, especially for a little boy, and my father ordered me to turn away. however, I spied anyway, the curiosity was too great. the spectacle was imprinted on my life, as an owl tears this mouse alive, screams, etc. in general it's all very cute until you see the animal in action in the wild

  3. Yep my mom made the mistake of letting a barn owl imprint on her and also raising a couple of Canadian geese together at the same time.

Every year during the spring/summer/fall times we'll have about 4-6 broods of geese and maybe 2-3 owls around my mom's shop due to her original "kids" that constantly come back, nest and breed around the area (her shops infront of a forest with a small pond).

Had to clean up so much geese poop and left over rodents that the owls would bring to her.
