This was a interesting commentary. Maybe you could do more vlogs on survival tactics. Don't forget to stock extra cat food!
These calamities as earthquakes, typhoons and flooding, made the Filipinos even more resilient and stronger than ever, Ate Dine!….🌀
Seeing the destructions in the Phil after Odette opened my minds but did not change what I have in mind in searching for a house in the Island. I love trees and water and I will just have a bunker to store stuffs when typhoon comes and relocate out of town if needs be. Foods, two boxes of MRE( meals ready to eat) shelf life is years. One thing that I found out I’ll need is generator, chain saw and axes and water filter.
Sorry to hear you had a bout of depression Dine. Thanks for putting your extra plans online for all to learn about. Some type of solar would be a good addition. It needs no fuel when fuel is scarce and it does not emit dangerous exhaust or noise. Zero is the number of people I would tell that I have a cash reserve in the house. Take care.
Very nice video with great advise for those of us making plans and preparations for moving to the Philippines.
Hello Dine. Good idea on the food and water storage. I couldn't believe how unprepared the folks were there. Nobody it seems had pocket money on hand, with a few exceptions. Fully charged cell phones and power banks. I would of stocked up on gas, diesel. I'd have a chainsaw and cordless tools with fully charged batteries, at least 1 generator. Any motorized vehicles would of been topped off as well. A solar system will be the first thing I get set up when I get there with an easy way to unplug and store the panels in storms. No tall trees within 100 feet of the house either. Glad to see you're doing better. How's your leg feeling? Take care and God bless.
Hi Dine ,I hope it was alright that I made these remarks on your channel , but I have met and known to many folk that sold everything and did not plan properly and lost because they did not do homework or give it sensible time ,I would not wish heartache to anyone in something as life changing as this can be for most, God Bless you and your family stay safe .
Hi Dine great video , I would like to add to those who are planning on living or retiring in Philippines that have never experienced living in a tropical country then yes be prepared and ready for big life changes firstly I would say do not dispose of everything at first like if you have a house keep it , just rent it and put items you wish to keep from your home country in storage because your need to firstly rent when in Philippines for maybe a year or more to really know it's what you want for rest of life because many changes like Dine says will happen regularly things that maybe you have not lived with before like earthquakes ,floods, typhoons, landslides, volcanic eruptions, poisonous snakes/spiders, mosquitoes etc to name but a few major events one hopes to avoid .Remember Philippine people tolerate suffer and of course overcome all these events as they are born into it ,they except it and know the terrible things that happen come every year . I apologize but that's the reality of living in Philippines .Sure many places there that are beautiful and areas safer than others , again check it out and learn about this country or any country you have a desire to live in . I'm not putting this here to knock the Philippines I've been there many times myself and love it's nature and people ,I'm sure Dine would agree that one must do their homework before uprooting everything first take time give it time so your know it's for you . God Bless you all .
Very sound advice Dane
You should consider 18 v rechargeable power tools while in USA send via BBboxes now , must is Drill, Impact driver, 6 1/2 circular saw, recip saw, flashlight this kits come Ridgid,Bosch, Dewalt, Makita, and my preference, Milwuakee, 5-6 Pc kits start @ $400US and are usually 120 v so might need a transformer,With this tools I can basically build or rebuild a house , and don't forget, buy EGO line of 56 volt garden tools, they are the best .One last thing DO NOT TRY TO TAKE LITHIUM BATTERIES IN CHECKIN LUGGAGE The Air line will not let them thru and they will GET LEFT BEHIND , it happened to me, so best to ship them tools In BB Boxes. This coming from one who is a Renovator& Contractor and Handyman in Canada, who did go to Bohol and his Tools was taken @ the Toronto Airport, – GOT LEFT BEHIND .
Growing up in Phil Union College near Manila we had a sturdy house rented from the school, we had over 30 gallons of drinking water stored all the time , we had many banana trees , one time after a typhoon we used DISPOSABLE YOUNG BANANA LEAVES for dishes and with no running water we used rain water for bathing and toilet use.
Fortunately you're house is in Samal / Davao where no typoon passes by. FYI Samal bridge will be started this year as loan for the bridge. Can't wait build my in Samal too.
Thanks for the much needed information Dine!
Howdy Dean and family. Its going to be a tremendous ordeal depending on air service today. What can you do against 200 mph winds? Maybe freeze dried food. Lots of candles that will not get out of control. Carbon monoxide is so deadly with generators. People put them inside their homes. If you could get a big industrial diesel generator underground would be a Blessing. I thought you were going to say the most important thing is your music!
