Six Seals Rescued From Horrible Entanglement

Six Seals Rescued From Horrible Entanglement
Spread The Viralist

The rescuers from OCN did so many seal rescues in this run – they had to go back to the video footage afterwards to check the total number: six. Most of the seals were already deeply cut by packing strap or fishing line, without any chance to escape the ocean rubbish on their own.
Cape Cross is often home to ten thousands of seals, and as they start moving around to escape the rescuers, we can often identify entangled seals we have not been able to spot initially. Many more rescues were done on that record breaking day. Our personal achievement is overshadowed by the knowledge that seal rescues are necessary and that many many other animals do not get the help they need for a situation they did not cause or deserve.

  1. I wonder if at a certain point if the members of the colonies you look after might begin to understand they're not being hunted but helped and begin to "flee" from your approach less.

  2. Everyone can tell what nice guys you all are! The seals thank you. You all rock in my opinion! Love from Australia 🇦🇺

  3. It's so sad that so many sea creatures get entangled in netting or other discarded plastic. But thanks to rescuers like this, seals, sea turtles & dolphins, etc. have a better chance of living. Thanks again for your diligent efforts to save these defenseless creatures!!!

  4. I mean having a record number of daily catch a day cause there are only 4 of you and if there were 10 of you then that many more even the whole group could be filtered out and all in 1 scoop would be saved. But as it goes on there is no ending in sight in the near future. I saw it when there were 2 of you 1 or 2 seals could be cut. Now when 4 of you there are more eyes more nets and more seals can be saved in 1 attempt. As you guys gain more knowledge and experience and more of you doing it the more you can save and the more efficient you guys be. Cause now you are peaked and be as pros. Now as a group and your coordinations are so much better and more efficient too than before. You see, this profession can only be learned on the job and by doing it. There's just no other way and takes dedication to keep doing it on a daily basis. I have only love and respect for you guys and for what you do and for what you believe in! I know the only reward is just a good and warm feeling inside your heart and from your viewers and fans a simple thanks. It's worth it !
