Tiny Baby Seal Rescued From Gill Net

Tiny Baby Seal Rescued From Gill Net
Spread The Viralist

Not even 2 months old – and already entangled in a gill net. He is so small, Naude can pick him out of the ocean and carry him around with one hand. The rescue itself is quick and easy, together with Wally and the help of his trusted Leatherman Raptor Tool, Naude removes a few strands of gill net and releases the little guy back into the ocean. But we have no answer to the question where a tiny pup like this would have been able to pick up a piece of gill net, a type of net that is illegal in most parts of the world, including Namibia? How did it get into the waters so close to Pelican Point?

  1. Makes me wonder how many of the seals drown getting hung up in those nets that are fouled on rocks or debris on the bottom and abandoned. I bet it is a fair number. Lucky for this one, he could break free to get back to the surface and find a caring group to save his life!! Great work folks!!

  2. Судя по количеству роликов , работы у парней меньше не становится . Люди смотрите и думайте . Мы здесь всего лишь гости , а не хозяева . Если не перестаним эгоистичьно гадить , следующие поколения не увидят этой красоты .

  3. good to see this channel grow. Do you guys use the youtube money for new equipment? Compared to your older virs your gloves look more solid, you have more and newer looking nets, everyone have multiple tools as opposed to older vids where you exchanged them between eachother, another mouth cam for Wally 🙂

  4. What you said about "just lying off the water", what about being proactive and snorkeling along the shoreline and seeing if there are lines, and nets that you could remove / recover before the seals get stuck into them.

  5. Watching you hop/step barefoot through the seal pups was a sight for sure! And then hauling the entangled pup up with one hand! Anyone can tell this isn't your first rodeo and it's incredible!
