“Mirabel is a really funny, loving character who also deeply yearns for something more,” says Beatriz. “She’s also not afraid to stand up for what she knows is right—something I love and relate to very much.

“I’m Colombian on my father’s side, and playing this role fills me with immense pride,” continues Beatriz. “As a Disney kid, I’d burn through my VHS tapes and adored every single magical story that the world of Disney introduced me to. I learned in those that stories that anything is possible, especially if you believe in magic and the goodness rooted deep inside us all.”

In the film, the magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope. The voice cast also includes María Cecilia Botero, Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Mauro Castillo, Angie Cepeda, Jessica Darrow, Rhenzy Feliz and Carolina Gaitan.

The new trailer includes an original song from the film, “Colombia, Mi Encanto,” performed by 17-time GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY winner, singer, songwriter and actor Carlos Vives, who’s a native of Santa Marta, Colombia. “This song is a celebration of the magical diversity of Colombia,” says Vives. “I can’t wait to see how the music will blend with the images and the characters inspired by the ‘encanto’ of Colombians.”

The film features all-new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “Moana”) and is directed by Byron Howard (“Zootopia,” “Tangled”) and Jared Bush (co-director “Zootopia”), co-directed by Charise Castro Smith (writer “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez”) and produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino. Bush and Castro Smith are screenwriters on the film. The filmmakers were deeply inspired by their research trip to Colombia during early development of “Encanto,” as well as their continuous work with a group of expert consultants assembled through the course of the film’s production. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” opens in cinemas November 26, 2021.

  1. Mirabel ❤️♥️❤️♥️🧡♥️❤️🧡♥️❤️🧡♥️❤️🧡♥️❤️🧡🤍♥️❤️🧡🤍♥️❤️🧡🤍♥️♥️❤️🧡🤍♥️❤️🧡🤍♥️

  2. If Mirabelle‘s power is the house maybe she has all the powers that the other people have because she can stop time project and do lots of other stuff created the prickly cactus with the flower on it because of her feelings

  3. Cerveza para el dolor de cabeza = How sneak culturally taboo references into American films. 😆 That title would NEVER fly in America if written in English. So many parents would get their panties in a knot over this and boycott Disney. 😅

  4. when she went into brunos little cave and saw bruno there was a crack in the family tree in the kitchen at the beginning before she sang the first song and was passing out the plates she pointed out the family tree but there was a crack in the same spot.

  5. did you know if you watched free guy and croods in free guy there is a dude named guy and same in croods if you have seen encanto and luca there are bruno in luca when they say selensyo bruno and in encanto there is a dude named bruno

  6. When Delores and Mirabel are doing their dancing in the song, “we don’t talk about Bruno”, in the background on the second floor you can see Bruno with the glow of those shattered green shards.

  7. I DIDN'T EVEN WATCH THE HOLE THING BECAUSE THIS MAKES NO SENSE. FIRST OF ALL THEY PROBABLY JUST LIKE BUTTERFLIES NO BIG DEAL. AND ALSO EVEN THO THEY DON'T LIKE BRUNO THEIR STILL A FAMILY. ALL OF THEM ARE ONE BIG FAMILY!

  8. This may sound strange but I'm going to compare these 'gifts' to disabilities.
    What?

There are those that have 'hidden' disabilities. They aren't blind, paralyzed, or have 'other' noticeable conditions, so many ignorant assume they're faking or aren't as legit. Having a heart condition can easily exert themselves or can have a seizure/faint etc. It's just as real.

The gifts shown have been visible or external. Bruno's was mental & it scared his mother. Why? It was beyond his control which meant it could be negative or positive. One saw only the negatives not the positives although given could be warnings.

What I liked about the songs, is that many are seeing the external & speaking of actions affecting them internally, meanwhile they don't allow themselves to see what Mirabel's or Bruno's true gifts are. People who come from trauma try to protect & see with eyes of narrow minded on alert being ready & vigilant.

I contend that Mirabel always had 'gifts' (being supportive, guiding, brave, forthright & loving).
It's in her name! Mira means sight it's even exaggerated by her glasses! Hello! She sees these gifted individuals as her loved ones, not of their gifts. When they are around her, they are themselves opening up, not trying to 'be' something as they are for others.

There's a reason why both her & Bruno are connected & pushed away. They both have 'sight', one looks into the future, one sees the present being quite pragmatic. One may not realize it, listen to the words in the songs & refer to the soundtrack. This wasn't the typical Disney story & singing style it was what many feel underneath the characters. YEAH! Exactly the point!

Gradually, they've been evolving & changing. They are identifying other types; cultures, minorities, music, personalities are becoming inclusive. Whether got it right/wrong Disney is evolving the fairytale more into realistic versions of other' tales. (Look at colors shared from the adventure parks & other movies.) We see it with Mulan, Moona, Belle, Nani, Merida, Tiana, Pocahontas & Esmeralda, aren't typical, standard, norm or fit into the pattern of the damsel in distress needing to be rescued by a man. They're independent, defying restrictions, inquisitive & liberating in their regular lives. Notice how Isabella changes once Mirabel sees 'her' & not the image. She's the closet to the stereotypical Disney lead. BTW that's Crazy Jane from Doom Patrol, I like the salute to her character there by changing her hair/clothes to 'crazy' like.

I greatly appreciate they hint at mental illness. Bruno may have OCD, or possibly multiple personalities. That phrase 'We don't talk about Bruno' is used a lot concerning people that aren't quite normal compared to other family members, maybe have autism, mentally ill, alcoholics & drug addicts.

Abuela talks about these gifts to protect & save the family. Seriously? How? Yet even with these existing gifts, the candle still is failing & weakening. 1/2 are used for good, 1/2 are focused on the bearer?
These gifts are hit & miss:
    – Luisa's strength, Julieta's healing abilities & Antonio's relationship with animals is beneficial.
    – Bruno was dismissed as those couldn't interpret the future & thought of it as exactly what is, not if could be preventable.
    – What does growing roses do to save/protect the community?
    – Has Pepa helped during a drought or stopped floods/hurricanes?
She's moody but does it affect or harm the community bringing hurricanes?
    – Camilo sings & dance how has it helped protect the community?
    – Delores?
She can listen in on every conversation but how has that helped 'protect' the family? (It's more secret police than anything)?

Bottom line, hidden underneath It's about families & expectations, not seeing the person but the history.
Whether it's sibling order, immigrants or minorities all try to fit into unrealistic expectations or contend with stereotypical negative thoughts won't allow oneself to 'freely' express individualism. The singing styles & the music is right for this as it doesn't fit a pattern that's come down from these generational movies. It brings together sounds of 'us' not 'fairy' unreal of the past. What did we learn? Be yourself, share your life, accept everyone. Know difference between selfless & selfish keep positive self-esteem. Also, what one may think are valuable gifts need additional too, compassion, love & acceptance.

  9. the only reference bruno makes to frozen is at the end when he reunites with everyone, the rest of his behaviors are just superstitious habits he's developed over time to counter his seemingly unfortunate predictions….
