There have been many times when an animal has shown incredible bravery by risking their lives to save humans.

Gorilla Rescues Boy
A young kid was visiting the Brookfield Zoo with his family in 1996 when he fell into the gorilla enclosure below. While bystanders stood there terrified, Binti Jua, a western lowland gorilla, approached the injured boy, took him up in her arms, and cradled him until paramedics arrived. Surprisingly, Binti appeared to be motivated by a deep desire to help this hurting child. She performed an excellent job of caring for the boy with her mother’s instincts. Though it may seem like a miracle how much care this full-grown gorilla handled the boy and how easily she gave him up to zoo officials.
It wasn’t “magic” that she “handed” over the boy; it just happened to be that Binti was recently taught to hand over her young on command. Binti, who had just recently become a mother, was taught to hand her baby to the zookeepers so that it could be checked on a regular basis. So she was used to handing over her own children for vet exams and other procedures.
Whale Protects Marine Biologist
Nan Hauser had no idea what to do when a humpback whale began nudging and pushing her in the opposite direction where she was going. Ever so gently the whale lifted Nan up with her chin and sat her on top of her back. It then started moving up to the surface of the water and lifted her out of the water.
Nan was terrified and confused at first, but then she realized the whale had seen something she hadn’t: a gigantic tiger shark swimming nearby. Nan realized the whale was attempting to protect her and direct her back to her boat when she saw the shark. The whale was gently alerting Nan of the danger lurking nearby. The whale even escorted Nan back to her boat safely and didn’t leave Hauser’s side until it was sure that she was safe.
