Shark attack compilation: Stuart Beach in Martin County, Florida, ranks high on “most dangerous” lists thanks to well-known shark attacks.

Stuart Beach last made headlines six years ago when 38-year-old kite surfer Stephen Howard Schafer suffered multiple bite wounds and died. Schafer was about 500 yards offshore when he was attacked.

He had gone kite surfing later in the day. Lifeguard Daniel Lund was looking through his binoculars when he noticed something strange.

Lund saw Schafer lying on his kite board’s large sail. The lifeguard’s training took over … he sprang into action. Paddling out to the kitesurfer, Lund noticed blood in the water. Schafer screamed he had been attacked by a shark.

Lund pulled Schafer onto his board and paddled back as several of the predators circled. Despite Lund’s heroic efforts, paramedics could not save the kitesurfer.

Schafer suffered two shark bites: one to the buttocks and one to the right thigh. Medics found a shark tooth lodged into the victim’s femur. Investigators believe an injury to the right hand was a defensive wound, possibly obtained when Schafer tried to fight off the shark.

At first, investigators believed multiple sharks attacked the kite surfer. But after closer examination, investigators concluded. The bites, 9 to 10 inches in diameter, most likely came from one shark.

Experts think either a bull shark and tiger shark to be responsible for the attack.

  1. These videos are so cringey. You swim in their domain you know the risks. Dont make the sharks sound like vicious murderers. 100 million sharks are killed every year, so these fatalaties, while sad, are insignificant in comparison.

  2. Maui’s most famous beaches are tiger shark breeding grounds, nobody had ever told me that until we were vacationing there as a family one year. My sister and I were about 500m offshore for about an hour paddleboarding just enjoying the whales.. we found out the next day a group of 3 tigers were stalking surfers a few kms down the beach. Not a close call by any means really, but close enough for me! Lifeguards didn’t close the beach or even warn anyone, they really don’t want people knowing tigers breed on those beaches.

  3. The guy in the kayak?! That's why I never stuck my foot from under the covers when I was little. Under the bed monsters will do the same thing to 5 y/olds.

  4. As RARE as Shark attacks are they Do happen and Sharks are out there in the Ocean…Sometimes they are near Swimmers also as Drone footage shows us…And many people have been Victims to Shark attacks…WHY take a chance in the Ocean with these TERRIFYING BRUTAL DANGEROUS creatures unless it is an absolute necessity?…

  5. Ummm great whites take a bite and swim away just a bit. They wait for their prey to bleed out. They are not taking bites of humans and letting go because they mistook humans for their prey! Sharks eat meat and they dont pass on it once they've bitten it.
