That is not an emergency vehicle it's a cop car. And second those cops did not have an emergency to go to they just wanted to get to where they were going without having to face traffic. The Police are at fault. And you're going to slam your brakes on the freeway?

It's obvious at what point the person in the Nissan tried braking, you can see the tires burn. The Volvo noticed that the truck was trying to cut LAST MINUTE which is why they abruptly stopped, causing the Nissan to also have to stop abruptly. Although I do think the Nissan could have swerved out of the way, they also couldn't seeing that the driver of the Nissan knew that the truck was planning on passing through that path in the first place. There is only so much people can yeild and keep a distance. When people try to slow down too quickly to keep such a distance in the first place the drivers know that it can cause a wave effect behind them if other people are also having to quickly slow down on a freeway. Similar to the way that ambulances yield at a traffic light even if they have their emergency lights on. They know that there's only so much someone can stop on time by the time they see them. Ambulances don't just speed through traffic lights and assume that "you will yeild because you are suppose to keep a safe distance."
Good luck explaining why you skid so far to rear end another vehicle. The first vehicle stopped just fine, second one was obviously not paying attention.
