  1. Unfortunately in many situations the Police will see you as the aggressor, and arrest you for assault and battery if you strike first. Regardless of what the other person said or did unless you have a witness or can prove you acted in self defense. The Police have told me in a recent confrontation to run to my home and wait for the police to arrive, since it took place in my neighborhood. I was ready and able to subdue this aggressor and have him arrested, but someone called the Police.

  2. It is called the button.

It is directly above the diaphragm.

If you wear your shirt properly a button will sit right there. They are wearing a button shirt properly there is a button sitting there. You can push that button behind the ribs and really disable their breathing enough to just walk away most of the time. If you get the button in there though.

    Edit :

On the street this is true. When it comes to your home, property and family. If it won't go away you have to run it off.

  3. I feel sorry for Nick. That poor guy keeps taking solid punches to the solar plexus and ribs but keeps going while trying to smile and not show that he's in pain. Also, those punches to the solar plexus can be a very dangerous place to hit a person because it is NOT an empty space below where the ribs meet the sternum. A bone called the Xiphoid Process is there which protrudes below the rib cage and if punched it could lacerate the diaphragm muscle, lungs, stomach or even the heart. In a defensive situation it would be better to punch the aggressor in the stomach rather than the solar plexus because you want to stop them, not kill them.

  4. Nice video 👏

Reasonable force is literally force which is reasonable in the circumstances. If a drunken idiot swings a pool cue at you, you actually WOULD be okay in a Crown Court if you used the same to defend yourself.

They used to call it ‘bode of resentment’ in common law. In other words: you must match the level of violence/use an equivalent weapon to defend your life…but must not go beyond what is necessary. It can be a very fine line and difficult decision sometimes…especially with adrenaline, fear, and distractions involved. 🤔

    I’m not just talking 💩 btw…I’m legally-trained. Peace ✌️

  5. that's going to get me killed. I experience an attacker recently i had to knock him out right away and end the fight. The guy was super aggrasive with me. he could have pulled a weapon

  6. I've mentioned this before and clearly there are some ignorance. In the LEGAL system you won't win when you hit first. You will go to jail face fines and all. The legal system will not let you get away with hitting first as now YOU are the aggressor. This suggestion also makes you the aggressor because you are teaching oh just hit first 🤡 get the advantage. Yeah you get the advantage but you can't prove that you aren't the aggressor without A eye witnesses and B they don't hit first. Legally this isn't good advice as you won't have enough evidence if they DONT hit first

  7. From my experiences, i never hit first and never received a first that i could not duck from. However, i do recommend hitting first. A person who wants to start trouble never expect their victims to fight back; this is why they pick the weak looking people to prey on.

Though i never lost a fight because i always managed to dodge the first punch, i do regret not finishing the job before it starts.

  8. This won’t work in America you’ll get shot let alone uk in which you’ll probably get stabbed . The best way is to avoid the fight period

  9. This sounds good and all till you get arrested for throwing the first puch even tho you were only defending yourself, while the instigator gets to walk away scott free.

  10. I was in a few tussles, not many but I can remember at the point I struck first. Sometimes it was when one guy was facing me while his buddy quietly circled to one side to ready himself to throw a punch. Almost like a poker tell….easy to read. Other times he was in my space and drawing back……

  11. If you KNOW that a fight is inevitable, then strike first, fast and hard. Why let the enemy scramble and fight in the air when you can blow up their planes on the ground – get my drift? If you put him down and he's trying to get up, make sure he stays down. Go Wandy on him until he stops moving or the cops come.

  12. Wouldn't been smarter to study law before you learn self defense, I'm sure all of that will be good in the streets but Wouldn't mean you be safe in court?

  13. People don't want to hit first not because they're good people. It's because they don't want to take the rap and get sued. Perhaps Phillips would like to pay the legal bills and penalties for taking his suggestion? There are no good people anymore. Everyone is an asshole. Proof: Look at all the pro-vaxxers walking around without masks.

  14. Thanks for this video. I like the intro. An aggressor invades your space while you back up… and you are alone… or he's got friends on the side (maybe in a blind spot off-camera.) You're testing. He's answering. I've never had instructors nor seen anybody talk about escalation (and de-escalation.) Can you make more videos about "reading" situations or people's intent?

For example: What are some places or objects in a room, stairwell, elevator, street, sidewalk, etc., that are advantageous or should be avoided? What are some things to look out for, e.g., do they have friends? If so, where/how should you move/position yourself? What are some things that you can do to test, gauge, or defuse a person before going 0 to 100?

Please make more videos like this, please. It's an important part of the fight spectrum, i.e., the pre-physical part, that doesn't get explored enough, e.g., the environment, the interaction, and the signs that people ignore or don't know how to manage. There are no martial arts or systems that bridge this gap. And it's how people get sucker-punched or worse. Once again, thank you for this video.

  15. I'm not gonna say I never throw the first punch but I was taught self-defense not fighting. Not to mention, if you throw first that makes you the aggressor so after im done kicking your ass you get to go to jail on top of it.
