  1. One thing i know for sure about ancient tales and alleged atrocious acts is they're usually embellished with exaggerations, the theatrics are blown out of proportion. However there is no way we can run away from the truth of Vlad's diabolical character, he was a depraved soul but considering the context of his time impaling was the norm and Vlad paraded it as way of survival. How could he survive a war against the mamoth Turkish troops but by inventing such cruel exhibitions designed to turn away his enemies with revulsion. It was Vlad's defence mechanism, effective and innovative and given the context of the time i applaud it

  2. There’s something admirable about Vlad. He was certainly a well-learned man in various fields and was willing to do anything he could defend his homeland and keep the Turks at bay. And political coups and assassinations are like revolutions in Russia. They seem to happen every other Tuesday

  3. Vlad dracula faked his death. After he fled the last time upon meeting an enemy militia an explaining how faking his death providing the enemy messenger for opposing emporer that even if you dont succeed in destroying him the saulten will punnish you. So he gave him a rotten corpse head. Said bring this to your emporer an become a rewarded hero. Then fled to ukraine seen the fertile soils an burued his battle horses in fancy stoned made tombs.

  4. Human history is basically controlled by men with big egos who don't care who gets crushed beneath their power trips.
PS and who can have the dumbest headgear.

  5. Sypha: "Dracula was a monster before he was a Vampire!"
    Trevor: "Stop."
Sypha: "Could you just pay attention to the video Trevor! Its important!"
    Trevor: "I don't care…"

  6. Vlad Tepes was one of our most loved and appreciated rulers in Romania, along with Michael the Brave, Steven the Great (Vlad’s cousin), Mircea the Elder, Decebal, etc.
    Great video.
Multumesc – that is Thank you, in Romanian. ❤️

  7. Thanks great documentary. Prince Vlad the third is the Romanian King Arthur. Some may think he was ruthless and brutal but he's really just a man of his age and anything that could be said of Vlad could be said of the majority of European nobility at the time. I appreciate the light you cast on the constant squabbling and betrayals amongst the Christian kingdoms which along with the military might of our Ottoman brothers certainly contributed to their success. Had Sigismund supported Serbia at the field of black birds, or Mathius Corvinus supported Vlad, there might not have been a seige of Vienna.

  8. The best information I've ever encountered on Vlad Dracul the Impaler, and I've seen 'em all. I never realized the extent of Wallachia's confusion during the Islamist expansion, nor the alluring theory that Vlad's own brother may have been lovers with his childhood accomplice and arch-enemy. So thank you for this, and I'll watch it again. For an entertaining take on the more mythological Dracula, check out the book The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostova. Why it hasn't been made into a series is a mystery.

  9. That was BRILLIANT!!! I’ve never seen such a riveting portrait. What a strange time and place he lived in! In some ways he was more interesting than the myth. Truth is stranger than fiction. 👏👏👏

  10. The most honest account of Vlad's life I have seen so far. Bravo. I like the way when you don't know, that is what you state.

I like the man's ethics over most World Leader's of today in that he did his own fighting, and most likely dying too. Was he brutal? I'd estimate in the position he constantly found himself, he would have to be.

  11. As said throughout the video, Vlad was a product of his time, the stuff he did (torture, mutilation, impalement, etc), were used before and after him.

  12. A most excellent & interesting history lesson – I did not realize that Vlad had knowledge of psychological warfare & guerrilla tactics as well as conventional ones…knowledge is power… I don't know which is worse, the convoluted relationships between the European elites which was oftentimes very deadly or the dealings of the Europeans with the Ottoman elites which were mutually savage…with the ordinary citizens & soldiers slap dab in the middle…good job, thanks!

  13. I like Vlad III. He's one of my favorite 15th century rulers. I think he did what he had no choice to do to protect his realm against unwanted invaders because the Muslim Turks were bugging during his time. He was a Patriot to me.

  14. A wonderful video, but….’ Eastern Orthodoxy AND Christianity ‘ !? What you’ve referred to as comparative or competing faiths are, instead, virtually synonymous.
