The Mystery Of 536 AD: The Worst Climate Disaster In History | Catastrophe | Timeline

Spread The Viralist

Researching a climatic catastrophe that rocked the Earth in A.D. 535, causing two years of darkness, famine, drought and disease.

Written records from China, Italy, Palestine and many other countries suggest a huge catastrophe blighted the world in 535AD. But the cause of it has been uncertain.

Was it a comet? An asteroid? A volcano? Archaeologist David Keys reveals the latter is to blame for the Dark Ages of famine and plague that shaped the world order of today.

  1. 536 AD is the estimated timeframe that the Krakatoa volcano experienced an extremely massive eruption that caused a column of smoke, ash, and debris 13 miles high. So much material was ejected into the atmosphere that it shrouded the Earth causing temperature drops and ensuing human suffering. Krakatoa would erupt massively again around 1200 and the most recent climate-changing eruption was in the 1880s. The 1880s eruption was estimated to be equivalent to 160 megatons, the Tsar Bomba was a measly 57 megatons in comparison.

  2. Absolutely fascinating! This is how to spend quality time enriching the mind rather than watching pathetic tv. Try doing some of your own research on volcanic activity as influenced by the sun and movement of the Earth's magnetic field. Or the 138 volcanos under Antarctica. Fascinating stuff! Thanx!

  3. With all the nonsense going on in todays world, climate change and conflicts, maybe what we need is another wake up call by earth natural forces, such a global cooling event might be just what we need, good investigative science work and documentary, the interesting thing was from the beginning I felt it was a volcanic eruption, likely Krakatoa, was my gut feeling, as I had just finished watching the documentary of the 1883, eruption, and such a massive eruption in the sixth century, there would have been almost no survivors, to record such an events…maybe the aborigines in Australia might have made some record, a drawing perhaps…

  4. That would be Bill Gates and other "highly intelligent" climate worriers deploying their aerosols in the skies to block out the Sun. Funny how they don't bother checking how much of the CO2 being consumed by trees will no longer be consumed because all the plant life will be dead.

  5. PS- Science, History, Archeological or Ancient Written Texts or Fables still totally disregard Logic/ Deduction or Obvious Observations that the Main Focal point of EVERY Past recorded DISASTER reveals only ONE True Culprit / Explanation for occurrences —- “ C A T S “ . Laugh if you want… the Egyptians had it Correct. … Meow….

  6. ALWAYS Love your Topics! Well Organized, Researched, and Entertaining! ( Volcanos/ Asteroids/ Tsunamis/ Dark Age- my young niece asked,’…??? They weren’t Warned! No one Snap-Chatted or Facebook each other? …. like… Duh!.. “

  7. Could an explosion or explosions have happened in the Americas around when the huge populations of the Mayans, incans or Toltecs mysteriously vanished? This video could give an explanation to such old world mysteries failed to solve after all We don't have the written history or climate history directly from these civilizations because conquerors stupidly later destroyed any written history so could scientist have missed a massive north or south American volcanic explosion I now wonder after seeing the first 10 comments of the video. Now to watch the content, lol.

  8. AND, what would be the effect on our civilization, if we continue our path on building DEPENDENCY on solar power?
Please, please, please continue development of Liquid Salt Reactors to start using the massive stores of "spent" fuel pellets!
According to NOVA's "The Nuclear Option", there is enough spent nuclear fuel stored to provide the USA with all its electrical needs for more than 750 yrs.
