18. Great compilation, starting with the great Tunak Tunak Tun, I had that shit on my iPod in high school, it’s a wonder my heart didn’t explode with all the adderall and exercising I did.

I had a similar experience on the opposite side of the rivalry… I went to see the deftness, with a little band, that no one had really ever heard of before, opening for them… that band was Limp Bizkit. Needless to say, I didn't care for them then, and I don't care for them now. While I have an incredibly eclectic taste in music, and love just about ALL forms of Metal, I really don't care for the late 1990's Rap Metal garbage like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, or even Korn (despite seeing the latter of the three aforementioned bands at Lollapalooza 1997 [I went to 1996 too, which was much better, with Metallica, Soundgarden, The Ramones, The Screaming Tree, and Rancid, among others.]). Don't get me wrong… I like earlier form of Rap Metal, like Faith No More {both Chuck Mosely and Mike Patton's stuff) and Anthrax's collaboration with P.E., but when those late 1990's rap metal bands hit big, I was still going to see thrash gods (most of whom are still my absolute favorite metal artists today,) like Megadeth, Overkill, and Exodus. Nu Metal… just ain't my thing… 

    Oh… and for the record, Fred Durst isn't exactly a rocket surgeon. Over the years, he's just said so many things that elicited a big "Wow… this guy's an F'ing chuckle-head." Like, you know how a lot of metal band's lyrics are indicative of genuinely intelligent and insightful lyricists, discussing topics far more complex and nuanced than your average non-metal fans would ever expect? Well, that sentiment isn't exactly applicable of Fred. You can say what you want about him getting roasted by small town newspaper journalists, but when people use words that aren't within the general lexicon of contemporary society, in an effort to sound more intelligent… you get people like Sarah Palin. It's bad enough that the general consensus about metal bands, and their fans, within mainstream society is that they're all undereducated mouth breathers, but that stereotype is only exacerbated when you get a grade-A moron like Fred Durst voicing his general opinion on things he has no idea about. I mean, as someone who's about as far-left as one can get on the political ideological spectrum, I totally concur with his generally assessment about the war. Unfortunately, when someone uses words like "agreeance" to voice their opinion, they just get written off as an idiot, actually serving as somewhat of a disservice to whatever cause they're speaking about, as proponents of the wars can say "Look… only idiots, like that Fred Durst guy are against the war." Long story short, Fred Durst greatly lowers the public's perception of anyone even tangentially associated with metal.
