This sounds crazy, but it’s true. There are lakes in the world that randomly explode, and it works in much the same way as soda cans, but on a massive scale, and cause massive death and destruction. They’re called limnic eruptions, and they’re super weird.

Kinda makes you appreciate how truly lethal to humans Mars is.
great explosion
2:05 quick queen reference. blink and you'll miss it.
Is this the one that killed an entire village in one night?
this is why you place your village above ground
👍👍👍👍👍
Here's a direct link to the song Under Pressure, since it's stuck in our heads now.
Thanks, Joe.

Put 10, bro!
In addition to extracting methane from the big lake for energy, there should also be the possibility of extracting CO2 for energy, and possibly for sale. That fountain in the smaller lake for releasing CO2 could have a turbine installed in it to slow down the flow and not waste the energy. That would mean you would need a larger pipe to flow more water/CO2, but since it would generate electricity, it would probably be quite economical.
These are always awesome!
Here is a question for you. Would we had been able to use the shuttle to go to the moon?
Coca cola espuma
This was a fun topic, didnt know this issue existed in our lakes today. Great job make it and interesting fun topic. Keep up the good work Joe!
Damn, it's been a while since I heard "still a better love story than Twighlight". Still funny
CO2 from vocanos also can disrupt numbers in carbon dating plus it has the effect to put off gas in the air. dont be around the gas when its being let go. lol.
That was great. Loved learning about the lakes. I'm in my 60s but have never done the coke/mentos thing nor had l seen it. It's pretty cool. Summer's just around the corner here in Aotearoa/ New Zealand so l'm definitely gonna try it when hosing myself down won't give me hypothermia.
Kari Byron did it better !!!
At 5:12… Man trying to figure out where he left his DeLorean.
I thought this was heading towards a gas hydrates video. That's another "under pressure" tale & the more our oceans warm the more risk there is from these huge deposits of methane.
Wasn't sure about this one at the start but gaddyum did it escalate.
Someone should open a scuba shop. Air tanks! Get your life saving air tanks! Free refills after an eruption! Sizes small, tiny, and single use! Reasonable prices!
So what your saying is:
Throwing Mentos in lakes can be classified as manslaughter
hey thx for the vid, is that an old reel of data tape on the shelf behind the death star? the packaging looks familiar
