Leonardo DiCaprio & The Nature of Reality: Crash Course Philosophy #4

Spread The Viralist

Today Hank gains insight from that most philosophical of figures…Leonardo DiCaprio. In this episode, we’re talking about the process of philosophical discovery and questioning the relationship between appearance and reality by taking a look at Plato’s famous Myth of the Cave. All with a little help from our good pal Leo.

  1. I remember in highschool my teacher told the shadow reality story so poorly I absolutely hated it and was really disinterested in anything philosophy for years. Luckily this series helps me appreciate philosophy much more

  2. The 3 tailed cat argument is flawed because it refers to two different kinds of "no cat".

I can prove it by simply changing the words that make up the argument, without changing the argument itself.

1: There exist no cats who have 2 tails.
2: Every cat has one more tail than a non-existing cat.
Therefore, every cat has 3 tails.

In this way, the argument is clearly false, even though the premises are true. If anything, this demonstrates the limitations of language. It's not a limitation in logic.

  3. This my friend is called thinking out side of the box deception can be won by out of the box thinking of you master out of the box thinking what would that be like ?
