  1. This was made when we could still laugh at ourselves and not affend anyone. I really miss those days. First time I saw this movie I tried to count the number of times Prince John's mole moved but I lost count because I was laughing so much.

  2. i really would love to see your reaction to spaceballs
these 2 movies used to be my favorite when i was like 8-10 years old
i havent seen them in at least 10 years
thanks for reminding me that i should watch them again
i used to watch them so many times that i knew almost every line hahah

  3. This was a send up of Kevin Costner's Robin of Sherwood which came out shortly before this as well as The Godfather and Malcolm X. Also referenced was the assassination of JFK and the Rodney King beating by police officers. The joke about having an English accent was because Kevin Costner didn't sound English. You should watch Silent Movie as Dom DeLuise was so funny in it too.

  4. I am happy of the both of you are enjoying this movie but you really need to watch the Kevin Costner Robin Hood from 1991 before watching this film because this film is more or less a parody of that specific Robin Hood film the scenes the jokes. 18:00 because Kevin Costner could not fake an English accent to save his life and he was the protagonist of the film surrounded by white guys who could do an English accent Morgan Freeman with a I want to say Middle Eastern accent and Kevin Costner Robin Hood was the only person throughout the whole film with an American accent . Robin Hood coming home to England and kissing the sand that was also in the Kevin Costner Robin Hood. The nasty looking witch. Robin Hood and little John fighting near a river a very large river people in the comment section tell these two they need to watch the Kevin Costner Robin Hood prince of thieves and then rewatch this film.

  5. WARNING: Mel Brooks is a deep rabbit hole. I will explain.

Mel is the king of Hollywood satire. As of 2022, parody movies (Scary Movie, A Haunted House, etc.) fall into two categories:
    1. Ripping off Mel Brooks.
    2. Ripping off Mel Brooks and lying about it.

Most of his films poke fun at a specific genre. A few examples are Blazing Saddles (westerns), Young Frankenstein (the classic black and white Universal Studios horror movies), and Spaceballs (sci-fi space movies).

Then there are movies that are funny versions aka "spoofs" of specific movies.
    1. This movie —> "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" with Kevin Costner.
    2. "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" —> "Bram Stoker's Dracula" with Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves.
    3. "High Anxiety" —> Alfred Hitchcock's suspense films (particularly "Vertigo" and "Psycho").

Lastly, he has a few films which (while being funny) are original stories that do not spoof anything. Check out "The Producers" (there are two versions. Mel wrote and directed both). And one more that NEVER gets enough credit is "Life Stinks," where Brooks plays a billionaire asshole who makes a bet with his rich friends that he can survive a month living as a homeless man.

And yes, you can consider this comment a high recommendation for every movie I have listed.

Like I said at the top: deep rabbit hole. Enjoy digging and have an amazing day!

  6. The panty hose/tights in eggs are my favorite joke in this movie! In the 80s the panty hose brand L'eggs was super popular and the hose came in egg shaped containers. Its supposed to be a funny "modern" thing with everyone getting L'eggs hose to go into battle! 🤣🤣

  7. For another good movie with the guy playing robin hood, Cary elwes, check out Ella Enchanted (he plays the antagonist). He is also Jim Carrey's love rival in Liar Liar.

  8. I love your reactions but sometimes you make me feel so old. There was a pantyhose brand called Leggs which came in plastic eggs so that was the joke with the tights in eggs.

  9. Please, please, please do "Blazing Saddles", the funniest of the Mel Brooks movies! It is a "western" comedy and the source of the lines "A black sheriff?…Why not? It worked in 'Blazing Saddles'", which was spoken at the end of the Men In Tights movie. Blazing Saddles is not only hysterically silly, it is also a good buddy movie, and clever spoof against racism. A truly brilliant comedic film!

  10. I'd love to see y'all react to Pirates of Penzance if you haven't already seen it. It was originally an opera but they made a movie of it in 1982. It's super funny but I recommend subtitles, otherwise you might miss some of it

  11. OMG YOU GUYS NEED TO WATCH BLAZING SADDLES!
It made cinematic history for making a satire of racism, and is one of Mel Brooks's most famous films. I love it because it kinda goes, "HEY RACISTS! THIS IS HOW DUMB YOU LOOK!"
    XD

  12. You guys mention Monty Python a bit, and I'm not sure what you mean. Monty Python's Flying Circus was a show on the BBC for several years, which led to some iconic sketches (the Dead Parrot sketch, for instance), but they also did a few movies (Holy Grail, The Life of Brian, and one other, I think, that I can't recall at the moment… or maybe not).

  13. You should of watched Robin Hood Prince of theves before watching this you'd get more of the jokes. Like the I can speak with an English accent Kevin costner was Robin and used an American accent.

  14. A couple of things the Engl;ish accent line was taking a shot at the Kevin Costner Robin Hood amongst others, who didn't really have very good english accents in the films.

Also, a very easy joke to miss towards the end of the film, is something most people will never get unless they were born in the 70s or 80s or earlier, unless they were into military history. In the archery contest the second arrow Robin shoots, if you pay attention and they do hold it for a few seconds, has the word Patriot on it. This is a reference to the first Iraq/Gulf war where Iraq invaded Kuwait in the early 90s. The Americans had a new missile called the Patriot missile, which had the smartest targetin via techniology the owrld had seen to date.
