Can’t believe the law states that puppy mill cages only need to be 6inches longer & wider than the dog, wtf America?!?!
I’m thankful to be an Aussie living in a state that now only allows pet shops to take in and sell cats & dogs from shelters/rescue organisations.
Not only does that get the animals out of the shelters & cut off the cash flow to puppy farms, it also means that, because each and every animal is adopted rather than just straight up sold, checks are done on perspective owners, ensuring they haven’t got a history of animal abuse & that they have the facilities & capabilities to care for the animal.
The extra bonus is that because you have to wait for your adoption to be approved, the law instantly cut down on those stupid spur of the moment puppy purchases that often end up with the dog in the pound less than 6months later cause they weren’t prepared for the intensity, destruction & cost of a puppy or they didn’t get their parents/landlord/roommates approval – they just saw a cute face in the window & went for it.

I worked on this feral cat the everyone told me no way will this cat be house trained or even let people near him. WELL I AM PROUD TO INTRODUCE SPOOKY..THE EX FERAL CURRENTLY A HOUSE CAT!! HE is on his back at this exact second , sleeping ,purring and I'm rubbing his belly..between typing this!! I love working with dogs and cats that no one believes in!!! And I make a fool out of those people who say that!!!

I've worked at a 19acre nursery in Washington state for over 20yrs. We welcome owners to bring their dogs. I'm so happy to know that over 90 percent are rescue dogs, many of them are older dogs. These people and their dogs are all great ful for the love they share. Adoption is the way to go for life enrichment for all.
