Today J dives into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to uncover why Dumbledore seems to trust Hagrid with such iron clad resolve in the same way he seems to trust Snape – Did Hagrid make a great confession of love? Did he save his life? Why does Hagrid’s wand still function in his umbrella if it was snapped in half?!

  1. can you imagine how full the wizarding world would be if Disney owned the rights. they would of done for them what they did with Star Wars and marvel. no excuse for us to not have had a Harry Potter or Hogwarts show by now. the stories they could of told.

  2. Let's take a moment and think about Dumbledore at the time of Hagrid's expulsion from Hogwarts…

Dumbledore was battling his own demons as Grindelwald was making strides forward, and his own dark history was coming back to haunt him. Meanwhile, he was teaching students transfiguration. He wasn't the headmaster yet, so he likely was head of Gryffindor house. That means that Hagrid was in his house while Riddle was opening the Chamber of Secrets. Every concern Dumbledore raised about Riddle was promptly dismissed–which had to be beyond frustrating. Ultimately, even though Dumbledore knew Hagrid was innocent, and even though he had strong suspicions that Riddle was responsible for Myrtle's death, he was overruled and forced to expel his own student.

That must have been terribly haunting for Dumbledore. Hagrid was an orphan, a young man with no family, no friends, and now no school. All because Dumbledore was too tortured by the loss of his own family and sister to trust himself to seize power. After all, if Dumbledore had taken up the role of Minister of Magic or something, he could have prevented this, right? Surely, Dumbledore would have blamed himself for Hagrid being framed and consequently expelled. I'm certain Dumbledore did everything in his power to stand up for Hagrid (if Avada Kedavra lands someone in Azkaban for life, it must have taken a herculean effort to keep Hagrid out of prison), but knowing Dumbledore's propensity for self-flagellation, that would be little comfort to him. He didn't trust himself with the power that he could have easily taken, the power that could have prevented Hagrid from being a suspect at all, that could have kept Hagrid in school, that could have kept Hagrid's wand intact. The power that could have saved Hagrid, a boy with everything going against him–his heritage, his home life, likely terribly bullied, lacking talent–and yet, with the biggest, gentlest, purest heart Dumbledore had ever witnessed (and would ever witness). This remarkable boy, Hagrid, who naturally connected and gained the trust of creatures that Dumbledore had studied for years just to communicate with. Dumbledore probably witnessed things like Hagrid chillin' with Thestrals during breaks, and saw the way the animals respected him, and it probably was incredibly touching. So, having to be the one who expelled Hagrid was probably in the top five most painful moments of Dumbledore's life.

(Oo! Top five most painful moments of Dumbledore's Life! That'd be an epic video! …though kind of depressing, now that I think about it. 😕 )

So, why does Dumbledore trust Hagrid? Because Hagrid still didn't blame anyone else when he was expelled. He thanked Dumbledore for keeping him out of prison. He took the groundskeeper job with joy. He protected and loved the creatures around the school who were doing a lot more for the school and the magical population than anyone realizes. His love was always unconditional and his loyalty was unwavering, even when Dumbledore considered himself wildly unworthy of that loyalty. Ultimately, Dumbledore knew that Hagrid had earned his trust, and Dumbledore probably felt like Hagrid was owed some serious credit–far more than just picking up Harry would earn him.

(Added bonus: Hagrid's giant blood protected him from a lot of spells, including stunning spells. That made him a great candidate for going into potentially dangerous situations, with or without a wand.)
(And yes, totally 100% for sure Dumbledore gave Hagrid the pink umbrella. It was seriously the least he could do.)

  3. it seems pretty cruel and reckless to expel someone from Hogwarts after minimal magical education (minimal education at all!). Even without a wand, it is known that young untrained wizards will often use wandless magic on instinct (Harry making the glass disappear at the snake enclosure, or blowing up aunt Marge; Tom Riddle hurting the children at the orphanage). Maybe they assessed Hagrid somehow to check that he wouldn't be able to use magic without a wand? Otherwise, it would be quite dangerous for Hagrid and those around him that strong emotions could cause him to unwitingly cast spells and land him in even more trouble.

  4. Hi a moke is a small green lizards that can shrink mentioned in the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, (not the screenplay). Moke skin pouches can have things removed by others than whoever put them in but they shrink like the lizard when anyone but the owner approaches making them hard to steal.
By the way love the channel ur way of doing the quizzes really helped me find them slightly harder when u r given options it is too easy.

  5. Hagrid meant to turn Dudley into a full on pig and he only gave him a tail. Hagrid has a reputation according to Malfoy in book 1 of getting drunk, trying to do magic and setting his house on fire. I don’t think is wand is fixed

  6. Dumbledore one the wand because he was descended from the first brother, Tom riddle the second and Harry the third. So those items will always seek the true descendants

  7. No chance the creators have this huge epic duel not happen a white flag raised. They have obviously been leading up to this event after hijacking the Newt & friends beasts franchise from film one. Hargrid could make an appearance sure but if they make a next movie not sure Hagrid is what will bring fans back, sorry he’s great but they have bungeled this franchise so badly nothing short of the golden trio somehow breaking timeline and showing up could save this franchise haha Not even sure how the movie could be cohesive with a Hargrid plot now. Why wasn’t he around for the all important blood pact; which now that it’s gone whatever would happen with Hagrid would need to be bigger than not being able to attack Grindelwald and somewhat make movie three irrelevant or at least lessened since we have to introduce another now bigger problem. Not sure why I’m going on about this because they aren’t making movie four let along five. Again see point about them bungling the franchise, real Star Wars sequel treatment they did. Movie one (Beasts) was so freaking good how could they get so lost?

  8. All these things that Hagrid does (minus spilling all the info for Harry to pursue the Philosopher's Stone) further prove that he was a Slytherin. All these illegal and dangerous creatures that he gets away with bringing to Hogwarts for being so good-natured.

  9. What if Grindelwald actually was the one to repair Hagrid's wand to try to get him to the dark side? If Hagrid didn't throw the pieces away as soon as it was snapped, who's to say he ever stopped carrying the pieces with him.

  10. One thing we know is he is a powerful and trustworthy protector. He doesn’t get mad easily but when he does he’s hulk like in nature. Can easily take multiple death eaters at once.

  11. Weird thought of the day for me. Have y’all done a video in the past early on and found out later you actually got some of the information wrong? I may or may not take your word as canon and basically reading pottermore to me

  12. I think I know how the duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald will transpire! In the same way Harry won the Elder wand from Draco. Dumbledore will punch Grindelwald in the midst of the duel and physically take his wand somehow not using magic. That's also why Dumbledore wanted Draco to disarm him, but not kill him. He intended Snape to be the owner. A
