For anyone thinking of rescuing a betta-please get a minimum 5 gallon tank with a filter, heater, and research the nitrogen cycle because it takes about a month to cycle a tank to have enough bacteria in the filter to eat the toxic ammonia! If you put a fish in a tank right away it will quickly make the water toxic with its own waste

4. My husband started bringing home bettas from WalMart, in not much better shape than this one. We don't have great aquariums, just large glass vases, but when I saw that one was practically dead, yet still had a flutter in its fins, I started researching and doing whatever I could to save it. The last couple that my husband brought home were on the last day before PetSmart flushed them, and they're still doing well.
   Glad to see that there are others out there caring for these neglected fish.

8. Уважаю данную девушку. Тоже всегда лечу своих рыб) К сожалению, петушки болеют чаще всего.
   
   Мой стандартный рецепт лечения 1/4 таблетки фуразолидона развести в небольшом количестве горячей, почти в кипятке воды, далее это влить в 1л. воды комнатной температуры в карантийную ёмкость + 0,20 мл. малахитового зелёного (если фирма НИЛПА, у других производителей другая концентрация, и надо смотреть что в инструкции сказано). И в этом держать рыбку 12 часов, далее кормлю и полностью меняю воду. Получается кормёжка 2 раза в день и столько же раз готовиться заново раствор. Обычно 1-2 недели достаточно. Далее просто использую малахитовый зелёный уменьшая дозу. В общий аквариум тоже его добавляю, универсальная вещь)
   
   Помимо лечения очень важно грамотно вернуть рыбку в общий аквариум, ибо среда там агрессивная, так что малахитовый зелёный лить очень важно.

   Написала всё это на всякий случай, вдруг кому-то поможет) Петушки очень социальны, входят в общение с тобой, так что их терять тяжелее всего. Трагедия в том, что "У каждого хорошего аквариумиста своё кладбище петушков"
