Hi everyone! Today’s video will be about the top 15 best fantasy series that rarely get mentioned or underhyped fantasy series that deserves more attention. Unlike my usual videos, though, this is NOT my personal list. This time, the list is compiled from 300 fantasy reader’s responses in my community tab and Twitter account:

This is not about underrated fantasy series. The purpose of this video is to highlight some incredible fantasy series, regardless of high or low ratings and popularity, that somehow rarely get mentioned. Let me know what you think about this list! How many of these have you read? And thank you so much to everyone who participated in helping this video to fruition. It took me hours and days to compile data, record, and edit this video. I hope it will be beneficial to some of you!

i love that on you channel you talk a lot about "lesser known" books which makes it easier for me to discover new series i might be interested in, so thank you for that <3
i read most of those, and the reason they barely get mentioned is because they are meh at best…it feels like books these days are made by children for children
Love your content! So nice to see videos being made for not-well-known or underground books
Great video. I'm getting the River of London series. I love urban fantasy. Loved Dresden Files. Would love more urban fantasy recs. Thank you. Lynn in AZ
Great video Petrik! I’m hoping to read LPQ and Licanius soon and many of these are on my tbr. Hope you have a good day!
Daniel Abrahams books are always great reads… not to mention his awesome work on The Expanse as one half of James S.A Corey
The Lady Trent series is so different and interesting- a truly engaging journey. I'm glad you are going to read it!
The Divine Cities is in my top five fantasy series. I adore these books. Especially City of Blades.
Divine Cities is definitely something I want to read. I love the Craft Sequence, and this sounds like it will satisfy that ich for more series like that.
And 5 Warrior Angels is critically underrated. Brian Lee Dufree has such beautiful writing.
I have City of Stairs on my TBR this month. Hope I love it as much as everyone else XD
Anything John Gwynne for me is now an auto buy. He is my favourite author ever. In terms of recent reads then I found the last War by Mike shackle absolutely outstanding and I can’t understand why it is not more popular.
Prince of Nothing should be on here
Patrick, the problem is the first three books of the codex Alera Are setting things up for the whole story. I actually had the pleasure of reading the second three books. I did try to read the first three but they didn’t interest me. I started off weeding second III and I went straight through them all.
Always a delight to see a video from Petrik!!
The greatcoats for me is like the most underrated series I've seen. I definitely think the first book is the weakest but its a strong first novel and the series just gets better and better. As an emotional reader it was one of the most immersive and hard hitting book series I've ever read.
Ash and Sand Trilogy by Richard Nell is criminally underrated. That is one dark book with heart.
Cheers Petrik for your tireless fantasy cheerleading, particularly we lesser known writers. It means a lot.
Yass!!! Let's hear it for underhyped books!! Love this list!
Yay! I love Rivers of London! I read #6 The hanging tree last week and now I’m sad to be reaching the end of the main series
I don't hear much talk abut The Dragonbone Chair or much of Tad Williams. I think his books should get more love. Beautiful writing, engaging people, and a great world.
The Five Warrior Angels, so far, is tremendous!!! Definitely one of my favorite fantasy series out there. Cannot wait until Lonesome Crown!!!
I loved both The Memoirs of Lady Trent and The Long Price Quartet. Both series have weaker first books, but the story gets so much better later on. For those that like audiobooks, Kate Reading did a spectacular performance for The Memoirs of Lady Trent series.
Always love seeing underrated series shown love. Good job convincing me to pick up Master Assassins
Awesome video!!! It’s neat to see results from so many different readers and to see different books being talked about that don’t get as much love on Youtube. I definitely want to check out the Rivers of London series now!
Whenever I watch any of your videos my to be read list and wishlist swell. It's a good thing 😅.
A great idea Petrik and it's always so good to hear our Booktube fantasy expert talk about series that might be not so well known to the wider public. Thank you for all your recommendations !
John Gwynne is not underhyped or not well known. It even got translate into other languages. I think it doesn't fit well in this video.
Great idea for a video! I definitely need to read Licanius! Love to see The Banished Lands on there :). The Last War is amazing. Rivers of London is great fun as well!
Will
Great Video! War for the Rose Throne is great!
Well done! I really like recommendations out of the beaten track.
Thank you for this Petrik – really appreciate your commitment to bringing these titles to our attention. I'm going to check our local library to see whats available and get stuck in.
Great video idea!!!
I absolutely love that you put so much effort into shining a light on underhyped/underrated series, you are the best!!
It makes me SO happy to see Rook & Rose here, because both of those books made it into my top 10 of last year. And same for Memoirs of Lady Trent, that series is absolutely delightful. I recently reread them all and they are just the best comfort reads ever, though they also have a lot of depth and interesting themes woven in there! The audiobooks are fantastic.
I am dying to get to Five Warrior Angels, because I just know that those books will fit my reading tastes perfectly.
Once again, thanks for making this video!! All the hard work paid off, I love it! 🥰
Hi Petrik! You have some great list in your video. Among the books you've mentioned, the only books I got are 2 from the Licanius trilogy, The Forgetting Moon and 5 from the Shadows of the Apt series. And yes, I agree that most books mentioned in this list are rarely highlighted and most of which the first time I'm hearing them with the exception of John Gwyne's works and the Rook and Rose series. So will probably add these books to my long list of what to get or read =D
What wouldn't I give to read The Thief for the first time. Megan seems to have a solid and loyal fanbase, but I wasn't aware it was underhyped…but now that I think about it, yes. The Queen's Thief is very underhyped.
Not to sound demanding (this is just a gentle suggestion) but I think it would be a good idea if you also make a video for those series that only got one or two votes since they are the truly underrated ones. Also, it would be fun to discover a series that way.
Edit: i realize it might take a very long time. a simple list maybe?
A great video.
From this video, some books will go to Te-be-Read shelf and some To-be-Considered shelf.
In Ash and Sand series by Richard Nell , the second book was the book where I found out the difference between Ruka and Kale's storylines' timeline. This series was amazing.
The banished lands saga is my no. 1 favourite series.
Super off topic from video Petrik but I gotta ask. Have you read Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure manga series?
Robert V.S. Redick is an amazing author. His previous series is incredible.
