Tropical Strom Japan 2022
After the typhoon reached the Kyushu region before falling to a tropical storm, residential streets were inundated with murky water from rivers, and many residences were without power.
As it proceeded north toward Tokyo, a tropical storm blasted over southwestern Japan with strong winds and rain. Dozens of people were hurt.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Nanmadol experienced continuous winds of 108 kilometres per hour (67 mph) and gusts as high as 162 kilometres per hour (100 mph).
Thousands of people spent the night in gyms and other facilities as susceptible structures were evacuated out of caution.
More than 60 people were hurt, including those who fell in the downpour or were struck by shattered glass, according to Japanese media.
