More than 150 people were on the suspension bridge over the Machchhu River in the town of Morbi at the time of the collapse, local TV channel Zee News said.

Footage showed dozens of people clinging on to the cables and twisted remains of the bridge as emergency teams struggled to rescue them. Some clambered up them to try to make their way to the river banks, while others swam to safety.

  6. India only sees this as a tragedy but not the genocide in Ukraine. That’s why they love Putin’s blood oil by 1000%.

  7. again and again dozen of people died from kanjuruhan (Indonesia), itaewon (South Korea), now this, what happened to the world ? kinda scary

  8. Instead of trying to send rockets to the moon more for scoring political points, crashing and wasting money, use that for what matters for a developing/third world – bridges, roads, and health care and other public services that do not crash.

  9. Alas, the renovations were obviously not been carried out correctly. What a disgrace, its a pity the Indians aren't up to date on health and safety regulations that we have in Europe? This could never have happened here??

  10. It happened because India has a very discriminatory reservation system. It gives jobs and college seats to particular people of scheduled caste which is why even if other caste students score 90% they don't get a seat but an illiterate 45% scorer gets the job and makes bridges like this.
