Bunch of Geniuses there
What could go wrong
I'm surprised he didn't decide to take a few drinks of that ethylene glycol before the flight too. Darwin almost had one there.
Even with only experience watching air crash shows I could tell that right wing lower that he was going to over compensate it
What are your computer specs?
Sadly if this 23yr old pilot was a victim of anything it's congresses STUPID unnecessary 1500 minimum hours rule that airlines in US now have to follow. Maybe if the Senate wasn't wasting so much time on Jan 6th hearings they could nix this useless rule.
Unfortunately building up to 1500 hrs in GA airplanes doesn't make for good pilots. It can teach them how to make mistakes with attitudes that have needed fixing more than any commercial airline pilots have. I hope he can learn from this and fly again but it sounds like he could have medically ended his career before it started.
My jaw dropped at 1:22 when you showed where the bottles were stored. I can’t imagine anyone thinking that was a good idea.
Good grief.???!!
So sometimes, the issue is simply a low I.Q. pilot.
A stupid pilot doing stupid thing leading to the destruction of a nice airplane, he should not be allowed to ride in an airplane every again much less pilot one!
Containers stuffed in the footwell & against the seat, where the pedals and other flight controls live? Nothing properly restrained? Good grief.
The video was very well done.
Interesting and well done. Nicely brief and the pertinent details were covered and we have been educated what not to do and why.
Some years ago as apassenger in Auster GAPTU from Saltby local cross country, in back seat. The PPL pilot loaded jerry can of spare fuel into back, unsecured,it wobbled around in flight just inches from control runs. Hmmmm, nowadays I would raise the hazard, but back then I was silent. This accident made me shudder when i consider waht could have happened in the auster…
Lucky and stupid.
That does not look like a cargo plane to me. Shoulda said “Hell no”.
Just subscribed!
I'm a van driver, not a pilot, but I'd say not bad for a 1st time.
Was there a need for him to load 5 x 25 litre containers?
Surely placing one in front of the passenger seat where interference with the controls was a possibility was totally bloody stupid?
And how were the rest of the containers secured? When I load my Vivaro, anything liable to move is strapped down.
Money does not make you smart. Idiocy makes you dead. Survival of the fittest.😂🤣😂
To become a safer pilot is simple, don't do stupid shit like carry a load that should be shipped in a cargo bay and strapped down or moved over land.
It amazes me that these well educated people are just plain stupid when it comes to exercising basic H & S in the real world. I'd have told the airfield to jack off and get the items shipped overland.
Thankfully, this recklessly dangerous imbecile only hurt himself, but he's destroyed someone else's aircraft in the process!
He should have his licence revoked and never again be allowed in an aircraft other than as a passenger.
The thought of him having the responsibility for the safety of others just doesn't bear thinking about…
Well that's just one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard of.
Sounds like the accident was due to stupid. I know, we all hare this overly technical aviation jargon, but in a case like this, dumbing it down for the layman seems inappropriate.
Enjoyed thank you But what a twit putting any item near flight input is asking for trouble given turbulence ,rock and roll as i call it Pluss thats a fair amount of weight flying around if not tied down !You appear to set your volume to low ,perhaps some real still footage of sites or aircraft / parts
It would help if you learned how to annunciate and breathe when you are narrating. I had difficulty understanding you. Anything more complicated than the fairly simple narrative you offered would have been very difficult to understand.
Well done video. Nice use of MSFS. And as someone else said, covering these lesser-known incidents is a good thing. Subscribed!
What the hell? I would not drive a car with cargo placed like that crash scenario.
Wow, it was concerning just to see the pics of de-icing containers on F/O seat, and in the floor board. We all make mistakes flying. I'm careful, but still had a couple of dangerous situations. I hope the pilot is well, and now at 100%. Thinking about you, brother.
Suggestion: Actual footage when possible, tho I understand there's many reasons not to include it. Very good animation and explanation of this incident, and details surrounding it.
so as well as being massively polluting they shower us with toxic ethelene glycol when they could use non toxic propylene glycol? WTF?
OMG dhidd thay Deids ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿
Only ever been a passenger in a 4 seat light aircraft, but even to me loading any of these containers in the front of the cabin was a stupid idea.
Luck overcomes pilot's skill. Incredibly fortunate outcome.
There was a Cherokee pilot who took off with a clipboard on the combing which fell and landed on the control column rod between the bit you hang onto and the instrument panel. Instead of momentarily applying just the right amount of back pressure to then flick the clipboard out of the eway, he pushed on the control column which was effectively jammed. He remained stalled and in he went.
The only correct response to someone wanting you to fly with a 25-liter jug of anything in the footwell of your aircraft is "have you gone out of your damned mind?"
Darwin said…
IMHO, the Commander made several errors of judgement but I think questions should be asked of the Operation in general. Transporting cargo in this way and the robustness of their paper management systems tracking critical checks.
I was thinking it can’t be the weight. Didn’t think of them fouling the controls!!
OBSTRUCTION
-NOW THAT IS A NEW ONESELF INFLICTED INCIDENTInteresting video. And my husband recognized the sim. The only problem we had was that the recording was very low. I had it up on my laptop and the vocal quality was so low that I had it on 100 and YouTube maxed and still couldn't hear it well. Hubby (who flys the X-Plane sim) said that the set-up of the cargo was really bad. Glad the pilot's alive.
If airborne in 7 seconds didn't set him off into thinking there's a problem maybe there was a strong wind.
A Cessna 4-seater crashed across the street from my grandparents house…with my mom and brother watching. Guy had tried to stuff a Honda motorcycle into the back, and take off in strong gusty winds. He was having trouble gaining altitude, clipped the light poles of a little league baseball field (across the street), took off the top of the announcers booth, and went nose first, straight into the parking lot. The bike was unrestrained and slammed forward into the control panel. My father and uncle were there before the Fire Department, trying to cut people free from the wreckage with saws from my grandfather's garage. I can't remember which was which, but one of the two people on board died there, and one in the hospital before the week was out. We found bits of the plane and junk from the cockpit in the dirt outside the concession stand for years.
What about the rudder pedals as well, that container wouldnt of helped those either, having unsecured cargo in the front was just dodgy.
imbecil
